What is happening to Christianity today? Take a look at this example

I love the merchandising like the scented car Crucifix Air-Freshener. I guess the old St. Christopher medal doesn't cut it anymore.

Let the Messiah and the Holy Spirit chase away the demons of musty car odors.

Oh leave the Protestants alone.

Yeah right, it's not just the protestants, there's a lot of really bat-shit crazy stuff out there calling themselves "church's of Christ". And we wonder why it's so hard to convince people that God is good--loves and wants them when we've got these nut cases running around telling everyone they're "wicked evil trolls" that are going to hell.

There's just a lot of people doing more harm to the body of Christ than good and this is why today people are running away from the church instead of towards it.

Remember Jim Jones the crazy guy?

Wiki says: Jones became a student pastor in Sommerset Southside Methodist Church, but claimed he left that church because its leaders barred him from integrating blacks into his congregation.[15] Around this time, Jones witnessed a faith-healing service at the Seventh Day Baptist Church.[15] He observed that it attracted people and their money and concluded that, with financial resources from such healings, he could help accomplish his social goals.[15]

Jones organized a mammoth religious convention to take place June 11 through June 15, 1956, in a cavernous Indianapolis hall called Cadle Tabernacle. To draw the crowds, Jim needed a religious headliner, and so he arranged to share the pulpit with Rev. William M. Branham, a healing evangelist and religious author as highly revered by some as Oral Roberts and Billy Graham.[6]

God is not the God of insanity, screamers, profiteers, cultists, holy rollers, emotionalism or any of this crazy crap. God is a common sense God. Our Lord preached common sense and not this insanity that's infected most of mankind today. Fanaticism is not of God or any of this other crapola, but as time passes--this world only gets crazier and I can see why those who don't believe in God don't want to when all they see is this kind of lunacy.

Lonely, desperate searching people will reach out for anything that seems to give them comfort, but this is also when people are most vulnerable is when they're emotionally destitute and wanting to belong to a group. People really need to be aware and pray to God alone for truth and comfort. None of that wild crazy emotionalism ever appealed to me and is why I never subscribed to such nonsense.

Yes, it is unfortunate that Christianity has been split into so many factions over the centuries. Every split/offshoot seems to push schismatics further from God and their brothers/sisters in Christ. :(

Snake handling churches.
I grew up in the Midwest with German Catholics and German Lutherans. The Reformation is ancient history unless a Lutheran has been drinking a little bit of whiskey (Beer doesn't seem to do that to them.) Other than that, other religions are a mystery to us up there.

I met a good Baptist woman in the South and introduced her to my family. When two of my cousins heard Southern and Baptist they looked at each other in shock then asked my fiancé (at the time,) do you worship with snakes? My gracious wife laughed it off with class, and we still laugh about it today. My wife is a Catholic now.

Now my wife has dragged me back to her home state to live. We live in a new-age hippie pocket in the middle of the bible belt. I get along with everyone, but my wife has accused me of turning into a closet Archie Bunker-- I'm not that bad, she just likes to tease me. My oldest daughter goes every Wednesday night to a Baptist Bible study with the homeschool co-op. I always ask her if they got to handle snakes. She rolls her eyes. She'll probably rebel against me and marry a good Baptist man-- Which I can't complain. A good Baptist woman has made me the happiest man on Earth.

BTW, I know snake handlers are more of a Pentecostal thing. Calling it a Baptist thing is more of a joke about my cousins.

BTW, I don't know why I'm posting this here other than it seemed somewhat amusing to me.
