What I learned as RP precinct captain in Iowa

Really good post. Only question is: Where did you get the calling lists?

My Precinct list from HQ didn't have phone numbers.

So do we have a NH section up yet on the forum where we can have precinct captains discussing what they are going to do come decision night?

Where did you get the phone numbers for cold calling?

from official campaign - they later told us not to do the calls because they had had a call center hired to do it. I think my calls were significantly more effective because likely caucus goers in iowa got 3 or 4 calls per day... but I could open by saying i live a block away and want to drop off a pamphlet for them.

Great post: Mods plz sticky this

It would be nice if there was some way for precinct captains in iowa to share this with people in NH. There is like a lot of other advice (maybe from jefferson county with got 1st place for Ron?) that should get shared.

Thank you for your post!

Do you know how many undecided voters you swayed to vote for Ron Paul?

Did your GOP publish the names of voters and who they voted for?

How many SURE THING Ron Paul voters did you expect at your caucus?

How many of them were Meet-up members?

How many Undecided - no idea and I'd really like to know. I can safely say over half of the votes RP got in my precinct were intending to vote for RP before my talk (because of the number of buttons/etc on). I'm sure my talk swayed a couple, but i don't really know how many and will probably never know.

GOP publish names - no, they don't track who voted for who. The ballets were all handed in on a piece of paper that did not include a name.

Sure thing - 4 people (including myself) indicated to me they would be caucusing for ron paul. My honest expection as I headed toward the caucus was 5 votes for Ron (hoping 2 or 3 would show, and my speech could sway 2 or 3). Our total count was a little over 40. The cold calling + lit drop/talk at the door combo was much more effective then I anticipated. The signs in my neighborhood were also more effective then I anticipated.

Meetup - as far as I know, I was the only meetup member at my caucus. The meetup group I'm in is not very active and I believe all of the members in it are in other precincts.
