The numbers there were phenomenal

District 3
15 slots then it drops 100 votes then us and a few others

District 7
15 slots then it drops of 200 votes, then us.

Was there a huge Pro Life contigent? Did these people get info from their churches? Just trying to understand what happened.

the Lake Charles portion of District 7 held their own...the Lafayette side got creamed...wasn't it held IN a church?

it was held in a church, i was there, and they were all church goers. they were told at their congregations to go and vote for this GOP ticket. there was nothing we could have done to counter this.

That's disappointing. Did you church give our the Pro-Life handouts well before?

I guess people feel intimidated going into the church.

They didn't do anything to hamper our electioneering correct?

It makes no sense to me to hold a caucus in a church...what about at LULA - or a government building....?

There was no hampering of our voting, they did get pissy when we kept asking about where the provisional ballots would go and who was handling them, but thats it. The reality is, we didnt see this coming. We fliered the churches with pro-life slim jims for RP, but the pastors and ministers told the congregations to go and vote for "the official GOP ticket" which had a picture of Reagan on it, and said something about pro life.
I was shuffling all the volunteers around at the site, so I got to watch as people came in, and they didnt already have the GOP ballot, but they would be asked by other old fart church goers if they wanted the offical GOP ballot. There were only four ballots circulating: the McCain, Romney, Paul, and this pro-life bullshit.
They came in masses, and they wanted to argue with us. One guy told me to go home, and another supporter was called "Ahkmed" (spl?)
They were told what to look for at their churches, and they ate it up. It is really local politicking, and they are damn good at it. These people know how to heard sheep. :(

I was there and definately got the feeling that the majority of the people there were people that actually were members of that congregation. There were alot of RP people there but they were all electioneering. I looked around as I voted to see which campaign ballots people were following and noticed alot of Romney ballots. I was the only one that I could see with a RP ballot in my hand.

On a side note, maybe I'm just paranoid, but when I was leaving a little boy in a suit asked me for my paper that had my delegates on it because they were "running out." I thought this was odd because my paper was rolled up. There was no way he knew who's list I had. And it was only 5:30. Voting had only been open for 30 minutes. I still can't imagine why someone was trying to collect the delegate lists...

I wanna know if they were all checked for being registered republican by the correct date..

don't non-profit organizations jeopardize their tax-exempt status by endorsing a candidate or platform? we may consider talking to the elected delegates in Districts 3/7 about pursuing this... unless they vote for RP at national.

(This is how you play politics, kids)

Are the people in Lafayette canvassing at all through the campaign precinct leader program? If not, why not?

I don't think they didn't try I think it was a huge mess that it was at a church. If the whole congregation went then that's a pretty strong contingent.
