What Do You Think Are The BEST ALBUMS EVER?

THIS! After reading the name "Spock's Beard" at least ten times in lists of bands I'd probably like, I had to check 'em out. I didn't know what I was getting into. Awesome, awesome band, and equally terrific album.

Great, another fan! And I assume you have also listened to Transatlantic?

I'm probably going to list the albums that I think are best for mostly subjective reasons. I think they're objectively amazing but that's probably because I really like them.

-Dark Side of the Moon- Pink Floyd (I know I'm not alone on this)
-Plastic Beach- Gorillaz
-Once- Nightwish
-Oceanborn- Nightwish
-Little Dragon- Little Dragon
-No Need to Argue- The Cranberries
-King of Limbs- Radiohead
-The La's- The La's
-Actor- St. Vincent

Most likely more than that, but my memory doesn't want to be summoned for more.

I know if I listened to Blur albums in entirety that at least one of the albums, if not more would find a nice spot on my top favorites, but I haven't gotten to that yet. All I have is a "best of." Which is certainly amazing but I'm sure doesn't hold up to an actual album experience.

Also, since we're posting photos of album covers, here's my favorite:

I like listening to The Wall in its entirety from time to time, the great music + the story it tells makes it a great listening experience.

I also really like P.U.L.S.E. , their live album from 1994, Gilmour's voice and the guitar tone are just perfect .

Transatlantic doesn't ring a bell, but I'll look 'em up! Always into discovering new and interesting rock.

If you like Spock's, you'll like Transatlantic. It's a super-group with Neal Morse (of Spock's) doing vocals and keyboards. Also Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, Pete Trewavas from Marillion and the singer/guitar player from The Flower Kings.

I'm surprised none of these have been mentioned yet, so I'll throw out a few other suggestions for those looking for some really great music, where you can listen to the whole album and there's not a single weak track on them:

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine

Tori Amos made a shout out to NIN in her song Precious Things from her debut album Little Earthquakes:

'No one dared, no one cared to tell me where the pretty girls are, those demi-gods, with their nine inch nails and little facist panties tucked inside the heart of every nice girl.'

Trent Reznor sang back up vocals on her song Past the Mission from her 2nd album Under the Pink.

Trent and Tori had a fling in the mid 90's.

According to an interview with
Trent Reznor the relationship between he and Tori was broken up by "meddling" on the part of Courtney Love. Many believe that Tori's song Professional Widow, is a reference to Courtney Love and her involvement with Kurt Cobain's death.

She also would improv NIN's Hurt before certaing songs (love song and CALS) during her 1996 Dew Drop Inn tour. She again references NIN in Caught a Lite Sneeze from her 3rd album Boys for Pele:

'Caught a lite sneeze. Dreamed a little dream. Made my own pretty hate machine.'

One last thing, Trent grew up near a summer camp I went to as a child. Then in middle school I found out my band director grew up with Trent, near Ellwood City. The camp is owned and operated by The Salvation Army. I saw a pic of him performing at a concert with the crest of the SA, but it said 'Satanic Army' instead of Salvation.

Small world.
