Queensryche - Empire

Was that the first QR album you ever listened to? People sometimes like the first album they hear from a great band.

O:M was their peak. The Warning was a 10/10 classic in the Iron Maiden vein. Rage for Order was an experimental and boundary pushing 10/10.

I would rate them (with all of them 10/10 classics):

1. O:M
2. Rage
3. The Warning

Not the first album I heard from them, I just like it the best for some reason.

Interesting. QR and Metallica had the same management at the time, and Empire and The Black Album came out nearly simultaneously. They both went a little more commercial following what was generally considered their best releases (from the hardcore fans). Some people like the The Black Album best from Metallica too. I appreciate both much more now than I did at the time.

Speaking of QR, is everyone up to date on the "meltdown"?

Anyone who doesn't put Pet Sounds on their list should be ashamed of themselves. It's the most influential album ever made.

My top 10:

Pet Sounds- Beach Boys
Sgt. Peppers- The Beatles
Are You Experienced?- Jimi Hendrix
Highway 61 Revisited- Bob Dylan
What's Going On- Marvin Gaye
OK Computer- Radiohead
Revolver- The Beatles
Exile On Main Street- The Rolling Stones
Rumours- Fleetwood Mac
Music From Big Pink- The Band

I threw it together real fast.... I can't believe I forgot KD, and Testament! We'll have to hash this list over beers.

And I was gonna throw Fight on there too, but I got sidetracked and forgot lol

I Really like the ZZ before that , but I did see that show . J . Geils ? gotta go with Must of Got Lost and the intro with the ' Reputa the Beauta " thing

My list of favorite albums is constantly being revised and extended in my head....especially since a few saintly individuals have started uploading WHOLE albums on YouTube, at great personal risk to their own accounts. In the last couple months, I've listened to old favorites like "Velvet Underground" and "Freak Out!" (Zappa), and found new albums to treasure as well. A few of my new faves:

Rush - Caress of Steel
Portishead - Dummy
Steely Dan - Aja (I don't usually like Steely Dan, but that album is dope!)
Genesis - Duke, Abacab, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
Yes - Fragile
Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine
Sigur Ros - Ágætis byrjun

The soundtrack from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
I like that , and the road trips as a youngster in the Appalachians & Smokies and the music at night in the summer in peoples yards , fascinating to me at the time , kid hopped up on cheap beer , accustomed to blues , jazz , big band ( my parents ) , rock , country , never heard anything like it , I can almost still see the stars , the lightening bugs ,feel the rythym of the earth .... probably why I am lucky enough to have Mrs Oyarde ...

Can I include opera? That's pretty much a classical music album.

One of my favorites, Parsifal, about the Grail Knights. It's by Wagner, the guy who brought you Valkyries in horned helmets.

I think the music is sublime, hope you agree.

The Chemical Brother - Dig your own hole(1997)

Lords of Acid - Lust(1991) Birth of Techno
