Beautiful...just beautiful. Congratulations to the Rand Paul campaign. Rand is a workhorse...and it is a great thing that he is meeting a lot of people personally. Beceause once a voter meets him personally there is no way that Conway calling him "extreme" will stick.

Oh, yeah. Work like we're ten points down. Still, the attacks have been so relentless that any clear sky from the media and polls is worth SOME celebration....and maybe it will cause the Dems to reconsider some of their outside group investment with so many other candidates at risk.

Pelosi is apparently asking incumbants in the house who 'aren't at risk' to give funds from their campaign funds, but if I were them, with the startling poll changes just starting to come down the pike, I don't know if I'd want to risk that. Of course there are probably some who have a lot more than they can feasibly use in two months, but I could see them feeling pretty insecure.

Has the ad buy from the DNC started in KY yet? I wonder if they would reconsider spending that 1.3M if another poll like this comes out. If the ads have already run.... HA!

Geez...I just said congratulations for being 15 up in the poll. I didn't say we have no more worries and that the campaign should take the next 2 months off. Rand Paul is the first politician (I missed the Ron Paul revolution in 2008) that I have financially supported and actually been excited about getting into office. It isn't over...and the campaign should continue to run like they are 10 points behind...but it sure is better when the polls are saying you are 15 poinits ahead. Too many people who seem to get their jollies pissing on other peoples cheerios.

It was a day or so after the Civil Rights controversy. He said this was the beginning of the end for Paul and he'd decline in the polls. I read it off of some internet news site that quoted him, forget which one.

I think this is right on the money and exactly what I was thinking yesterday re: this thread. The exception would be with people like Glenn Beck who poses as a friend setting himself up as the voice of the Tea Party and who will sabotage the cause later by endorsing faux candidates and smearing true patriots...but that is a whole other story.

The poll immediately before this one (the always-suspect Braun poll) had Paul up five. Same with Reuters-Ipsos. Personally, I don't think that is a "dead heat", but more a modest lead.

There has been little doubt that SurveyUSA has been on a Democratic buzzkill tour for the entirety of 2010, and their newest numbers in Kentucky makes clear that the tour rolls unabated into September. The pollster, working on behalf of two media outlets, finds Rand Paul well over 50% in his bid against Democrat Jack Conway (55-40). Conway's campaign is disputing the poll, saying that the spread between Democrats and Republicans in ancestrally Democratic Kentucky is far too narrow. SUSA countered that there is a difference between actual voter registration (where Dems still dominate in Kentucky) and self-identification, where SUSA says the Republicans are much closer to parity.
