Attention folks from WV!

Jay Rockefeller is retiring, so this seat is up in the air. Do we have any liberty candidates running?

Is Pat McGeehan good? The issues page on his website seem to be decent:

http://www.mcgeehan2014.com

PM was known as a Mr. No when he was in the state house of delegates & afaik is a Paul guy. We used to have a few peeps from WV here but none lately to let us know what's going on with this guy. His campaign schedule/event page is weak and very rarely uses his Twitter account. He doesn't seem to be campaigning as fervently as Brannon by any means.

I offered the guy to do a Q&A which I would post on my blog and he never responded. Of course my blog doesn't get any hits but I wanted to help him at least get his message out among the liberty movement. IMO we should put in what he puts in-which right now doesn't appear to be very much.

The website is looking nice so that is a good sign he is starting to get serious.

I think we should focus on more winnable races. Republican Shelley Moore Capito leads Pat McGeehan 72% to 6%. Democrat Natalie Tennant leads Pat McGeehan 42% to 32%. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2013/PPP_Release_WV_924.pdf

I know about her atrocious voting record. Apparently the citizens of West Virginia don't know or don't care. I think part of the blame falls on McGeehan himself. He appears to be running an awful campaign. It's a shame because he seems like a genuinely great candidate in the mold of Paul/Lee/Cruz. My hope is he moves into Capito's current district so he can run for the House instead of running a longshot bid for the Senate. We need more Amash/Massie candidates anyway.

I do not see this one as being a competitive primary at all. The PPP poll from September showed Capito with 72% - that is huge and likely insurmountable for anyone unless Capito makes a huge error between now and 2014. This is one where I personally will sit back and let it play out, rooting for (but not financially supporting) Capito in the general simply for the numbers and the potential of flipping the seat.

She could probably be defeated by an articulate candidate who can explain her voting record ... however, after listening to McGeehan's podcast with Tea Party Express, I doubt that he will be able gain much traction.

Feel free to Retweet. (It's free):

For those interested in learning more about Pat, here he is on this weeks edition of the Tea Party Express Podcast. http://bit.ly/18mdtGc

Listened to it. He's smart, good on all the issues, and definitely a liberty-oriented candidate.

My only recommendation would be to speak a little faster (interview would be shorter). For national politics, candidates pretty much need to speak like the average news-reader. I bet they have some kind of broadcasting classes somewhere...

In the end, it's what the local voters want.
