It'd be a great way to help RP get the nomination by getting them to vote in the (R) primaries. This could be a great strategy.

This is a good point. If Obama is running unopposed, then the Dems have nothing to lose by voting Ron Paul in the (R) primary. Dems who 'lean toward Paul' get a chance to hear them both in debates and make a final decision; Dems who like Ron Paul but didn't want to switch party-lines before can vote for Paul and not feel like they're traitors to their party; and Dems who believe "he'll never win" but are afraid a different Rep *might* can vote just 'to sink' the Rep's chances.

Maybe they stayed with their party because they were afraid Hillary would win the nomination last time - not an issue if Obama is unopposed. There are many reasons why a Dem would want to vote for Paul in the Rep primaries. I think it would be an easy sell verbally, but getting them to actually *act* on making the switch would be the hard part.

I think this is a great idea. For the most part, they'll be sitting this primary out since the O will run unopposed.

If they can pick the GOP candidate most palatable to them, perhaps they can have the best of both worlds (from their viewpoint). Normally, I don't like political hijinks, but perhaps we have an opportunity this time around to have an election where party politics is less of a factor.

"All the things you disagree with Ron Paul about require Senate and Congress approval, but the Wars.. at least the Wars.. can be stopped TODAY by voting for Ron Paul."

Yup, we can use all these arguments to get them to vote for Ron. :)

+1

This HAS TO BE mentioned to Dems & anti-war independents.

Ted Rall's latest column is all about Obamabots. The Democrats are enjoying as deep a schism between corporatist apologizers and real liberals as the Republicans are. And we're already beginning to capitalize on it. Seeds were planted, for example, over at HuffPo when Paul announced.

Yeah, I think the HuffPost is the way to get them. If you can convince progressives to register R for the primaries, they may make a difference. It makes good sense for them to do so.

And if enough of them spend enough time trying to get Paul in the race, they may actually wake up to the fact that he's better than what's in there now.

any contest between barack obama and someone like poor
dennis kucinich would be one-sided in any Democratic primary.
we know this one already! there are blue dog "reagan" Democrats
who may feel ignored and might want to cross over briefly...
i rather like the idea of offering them all a choise in full!!!
