we should do a full page ad in NY Times advertising Boston Tea Party II

Again... when the PAC is set, let me know. I'll be there. Please let me know what the logistics are of me making a large donation to them, if the funds were raised in this way.

Contributions by individuals to PACs are limited to $5,000. Looks like you might have about $9,500 to refund...

Meetup groups, flyers, stickers, shirts, signs, slim jims, radio ads, other PAC's...

The instant Government regulations jump into politics, we lose. You see how it's already bringing one idea to it's knees. It's all going to the same place... PAC's cost money to run. The entire media barrage was focused on the fact that it was GRASS ROOTS. I wanted to keep it that way. I guess it won't work.

Thoughtbombing,
Who is L. Hoffman? I'm about to post what I've found unless you provide a general description of who this person is in relation to you.

AND, I've asked since I first posted, how can I make it more open and fair, so everyone knows that it's legit... is there some way to have a ticker display the results?

I think the add should be more about Ron Paul and his views, with a little of it covering the Tea Party donation day. Why would readers donate for a candidate they don't even know about??

I think readers would be much more impressed reading about Ron Paul's voting record, his views, etc instead of a donation day.

Agreed.

However, we could use the same picture we had in the Iowa straw poll. This is a really good idea! If we could get a really nice full page colour add it would sure pay off. And I could assume it would generate alot of positive media (cant imagine anyone doing the same for Giuliani ;)).

If the ad is primarily about The Tea Party donation day, the media will jump all over it, resulting in the multiplied media coverage we are aiming for.

Thoughtbombing's answer to my question above was satisfactory, but I still say send your money to a PAC that we organize for this instead. Deleting the paypal address from the forums would also be good.

I suspect tb has already been caught in two lies:
1. capped donator to official campaign
2. already purchased a NY Times ad for over $60,000

Gee, I was about to donate.

Thanks everybody.

Thoughtbombing if you could clarify the above, we would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

The ad should have a link to a specific Youtube video like ronpaulishope.com or ronpaulstopdreaming.com

correction, you would reach 1.6 out of ____ (# of people above age 18 in the US). That is a good percentage.

I briefly spoke with Max (via email), and I could handle it once the logistics are worked out.

so, I am on board. Though, I would think that a round-table could result to find out what is the best use of such a large amount of money. But, once it is decided - sure. I could work with Max on it or whomever heads it up.

My 2 cents. There may be more efficient ways of spending such a large amount of money as far as reaching potential voters, but the "multiplying effect" of Ron Paul "grass roots" buying a full page ad in America's largest newspaper with the M.S.M. is the key here. It could result in millions of dollars worth of free advertising due to the media spin off.

I'd just like to say, I talked to thoughtbombing on the phone for about an hour just now. He seems like a really stand-up guy, and he's going to obtain a price, in writing, from the New York Times for a full-page ad B&W in the A section. That price should be available to us by the end of today.

He's then going to pay for the ad upfront if he receives a good price quote.

Then we can start talking about what the ad will look like, after he has the space reserved and paid for. And then, everyone should feel safe to Chip-In to reimburse him for the cost after the ad has been confirmed & paid for.

A talk on the phone can go a long way to making things more organized.

So we can definitely trust this guy, especially if he pays for it upfront as discussed.

Once he finds something concrete out about the price, he will let us know.
