we should do a full page ad in NY Times advertising Boston Tea Party II

Please, please, please use that phrase

"NO NEW TAXES. NO OLD TAXES EITHER."

and the simple font along with the image of capture of the ticker makes that ad easy to visualize and it's freaking brilliant.

.

tag.

This New York Times full page ad is an AWESOME idea. We have to do this. I have no money but will use my credit card to pitch in for this.

[edit] guys don't let this die. We have to do this. I'm excited already.

[edit again] I think if we raise lots of money, we should take out ads in more than just the New York Times. Imagine taking out ads in 2 - 5 major US newspapers all on the same day/days.

That is our Monday ad, for the Wall Street Journal, but we could actually run the same ad in the NY Times for the first one... either way, the second ad IS that. No question.

so you want this image to be the background?

This time around we should lay this out ourselves, rather than have the newspaper do it. Because when we hand it over to the newspaper, we lose some control over what it ends up looking like. If we're going to spend this amount of money, we darn sure want the layout to be wonderful. Surely, we have a Ron Paul supporter who is skilled at print layout for newspapers. If not, Linda of Papergraphics probably has that skill and I would imagine should would be happy to help us out.

Note: I'm not sure whether the background currently recommended will work in a newspaper ad. I don't know how it will come out. We need to check with a print layout person. I do think it's beautiful though and would be great for the website.

We also need to check out the cost to run this ad. I think it is far more expensive than has been mentioned in this thread.

To Each His Own

For those who don't like this idea good, concentrate on what you think will be best. Telling people what they shouldn't do with thier money, is very counter productive. If everyone is free to contribute in thier own manner, they will contribute more. That is what has allowed us to be so successful, and very consistent with the liberty philosophy.

I for one think advirtising in the NYT would attract a total different crowd than the sign bomb, but both are going to be helpful.

I for one love this idea! It very well could get a lot of press, and it certainly allows me to help out since I already maxed.

BTW... i still cant see teaparty07.com it hasn't propogated yet.

if we do it through a PAC, there are filing regulations, lawyers, etc...

In politics, a week is a year... we got 3 days of coverage for the MoneyBomb... they don't know who Ron Paul is today... 4 days later. We want to bring his name into the spotlight, so that people will GOOGLE HIS NAME... and there will be our website.

Collecting this much money for political activity is illegal. While I think campaign finance laws are ridiculous, we should stick to the law for such a public effort. All eyes are going to be on this.

Who are you, anyway? You registered this month.

Let's soften that tone down just a little bit.

Where did you get the idea that raising money for a PAC for an ad is illegal over a certain amount? That is not true under my understanding of the law.

Cuz a full page Teaparty ad in the New York Times will turn into millions of dollars of free publicity.

This isn't political activity. this is free speech.

We're not selling anything.. if you read my first proposal the entire page would have been white, with plain black text that says:

"THE BEAUTY OF NOT BEING SOLD ANYTHING."

Hardly an endorsement! Last of all, I've already PAID FOR THE AD. I'm not raising money for Political activity. I am raising money so that I don't go into bankruptcy due to my political advocacy.. completely legal, according to my attorney. Please understand... this ad will run, even if no one donates anything to the cause at all. If nobody else gave a penny... that ad still runs.

It's not illegal to DONATE to something like what you're talking about, btw... only to be the one raising it. My attorney assures me, I'm in the right here.

ALSO, I figured where it says "Paid for By..."

as a slap in the face to Sean Hannity:

PAID FOR BY LONE INTERNET BLOGGERS FOR FREEDOM

lol... Lone and the Plural of Bloggers... play on "this is one hacker on all these polls"

I'd like to contribute to this effort. I'd like to do so without sending to some random paypal address of a poster who registered within the past few days.

You understand the law, but you didn't understand my post. Thoughtbombing wants to do this WITHOUT a PAC, and spending 60K on advertising without a PAC is illegal.

Lord Xar is on board with this...we should use his PAC....thats how I set up The foundinf fathers ad in NH...through Americans United for Liberty...

we really need to set up a teleconference or something to get this straight...

we still need a better website ...
