What if we raised $50-$60 thousand among ourselves to run a full page ad in NY Times......

accomplishes three things...

1. Secondary media coverage from the huge ad in America's "Newspaper of Record" ...(remember the hype surrounding the General Betrayus ad?)

2. Advertises Ron Paul's name and positions to a massive and generally affluent audience.

3. Turns the build up towards Boston Tea Party II into a major event in and of itself....

The money we spend would return itself to the campaign MANY times over....
The biggest chip-in of all time!...Dont tell me it cant be done!!!

I pulled off the full page Founding Fathers ad in New Hampshire by rasing nearly $6,000 on just this forum alone,...and I did it in just two weeks.

A full page Boston Tea Party II promo in a MAJOR media outlet will light a fire that cant be stopped...

Who here has a PAC and will be willing to set up "the mother of all chip-ins?"

The Sunday Times? I think thats the one with the widest readership.

This is an amazing idea. I support this 100%. While watching CNBC they have already bought into it. There is a mention of "Paul's next fund raising drive Dec 15/16".

Ery

This is a seriously good idea.

Very simply and brief text should be used to make reference to the tsumai of freedom that occured on 11-5 then make mention that the freedom message is spreading like a prarie fire. >>> The promote the Tea Party !!!!

.

DARE TO DREAM!!!!!!!

compared to the daunting odds that the signers of the declaration of independence had to overcome......this is a cake walk!

lets do it...

i did the NH ad through Lord Xar's PAC.......i will contact him and we need someone to set up a NY Times full page website to pimp this thing to all the meetups, facebooks, myspace etc

Not the best source in the world, but wikipedia shows the following on circulation:

1,120,420 Daily
1,627,062 Sunday

real question is can we raise that much money? If so good idea

Yeah, when I first saw this topic I thought that. Isn't it tens of thousands of dollars to get a full page ad? Then I remembered how much money this campaign raises.

Of course, is it possible for Dr. Paul to bring it up when he's interviewed on tv? I know he wants to have a hands-off approach here, but since it's already been organized independently, I don't think it's a problem if he promotes the fundraiser while he's being interviewed on tv.

600 people would need to donate $100 each if the $60k figure is accurate. There are 637 on this site right now alone.

I think it's more than that. I remember with the "General Betray-us" thing they were talking about the regular price being along the lines of $110k. Groups like MoveOn get lower rates because they regularly advertise (and because they fit with the ideology that the NY Times wants to promote). We won't get those types of fee breaks. $60k might by a half-page ad.

Yes this is perfect.. esp get the donors who are already maxed out to donate to this.. This is a wonderful idea.. I am truly amazed by Paul supporters.. I think we are the smartest group of supporters out of any other candidates.. You guys are truly all amazing.. let's get this done~

Great idea, we need to act very fast on this, only about 4 weeks to get this in the paper (want to have it placed a week before on Sunday I assume). Newspapers also have deadlines and stuff of how late you can submit for advertising.

64,575 is what Giuliani paid. Normally it's 140k, but if they don't give us the same rate, they have violated Mccain-Feingold... glad they didn't fix that yet

Either way, it's worldwide distribution. Also, it'll be a Ron Paul weekend on the Sunday talk shows... then on Monday they'll be talking about the Bomb that dropped on Sunday... then on Tuesday, they'll be talking about the 3rd attack.

All with Ron Paul sitting in his underwear on the edge of his couch, flipping through the TV channels and watching the totals roll in. Can you think of anyone who deserves it more?

As proposed by thoughtbombing earlier with this research

I think one of the other great things about this would be all the press coverage that says:

"They did what?!"
"They took out a full page ad in the NY Times?!"

The media would be floored that a grass roots campaign could not only raise the money, but also be organized enough to pull it off.

Then you get the original benefit of having more people donate on the 15/16th.

The RATE

Will we get the MOVEON.ORG General betrayus rate????, just kidding
sk

The closer to the 16th you can place the ad, the better. That way it will be fresh in peoples minds.
