JohnC. I would probably expect some questioning at the airport, but thats about it. Passports can be verified. This woman was denied her rights plain and simple, its pretty appalling.

Don't think that this kind of treatment is an isolated incident. I work in the shipping industry as a marine superintendent for import / export petroleum products. I have seen on a few occasions where immigration / customs officers have quaranteened entire crews on foriegn going vessels due to "reasons of national security" just because they could. On one occasion they would not allow 6 guys trying to make crew change (only wanting to fly home after working on-board this ship for 5 months) simply because he felt he had his toes stepped on because they were dealing with a different customs/immigration office than the one he was from. They were all very nice people 5 from Norway and one from Denmark. All of them were made to sail with the vessel which wasn't due to make port for annother few weeks. I felt very bad for them even appologizing and telling them that this was horrible treatment. But that is what we have come to.
