We need to get this on Drudge: Rick Santorum declines to endorse Mitt Romney

Anything less than a Romney endorsement from Santorum can only be seen as a good thing for us. Let's not alienate people with snide comments. That can only hurt us.

I think Santorum is trying to keep his own base the way Ron has his, and to some extent Huck etc kept a dedicated group. He may know he would lose a lot of them if he endorses Romney. I think he wants to build a base for 2016 because the man had ZERO organization this time, he was a distraction. He missed a bunch of delegates from not making ballots etc.

I agree with everything except that Santorum was a 'distraction' (before Michigan Romney's supporters were on the verge of total panic. Had he won that state and Ohio he might have pulled it off).

But you're analysis of why he isn't endorsing Romney is almost certainly spot on. He also dislikes Romney, but personal feelings<political maneuvers.

I assume that he's merely shopping around for a deal. Once that deal is made (likely with Romney), then his camp will split into Romney voters and the anyone-but-a-Mormon vote. Santorum voters will be more valuable to us on local issues, where we have more common ground. I don't see them flipping the convention for us.
