We blocked it

Tis thing is going to pass. I have no doubt.
Yep, they're reworking it now. And if it fails again, Bush will override congress (or dissolve it) and sign us up anyway via exec. order.

They are so close they can smell that money (transfer of wealth) and they ain't just going to roll over.

Right now?

What's the deal?

It is 2:30 am in Australia.

Help! :o

I'm glad it didn't pass but it's still brutal to see my Apple stock drop $22.24 today.

just be glad you still have stock to personally own; you could have collectively owned wall street bank stock with the rest of your comrades!

fyi, my 401(k) is taking a beating too, but for once, i don't mind

This isn't even close to being over. They are already talking about regrouping and putting partisanship aside and "getting something passed for the American people."

"Many of us feel that the national interest requires us to do something which is, in many ways, unpopular," said Rep. Barney Frank, the Financial Services Committee chairman.

Congress? Unpopular? Never!

I'm watching my 401(k) tank as the vote proceeds, and you know what? I don't care, because I believe that this "bailout" will just be another nail in our economic coffin. I'd rather lose money, and have that money be mine and have real value , than have my savings artificially propped up by short-sighted government actions that hurt us all in the long run.

DOWN WITH THE BAILOUT.

That's exactily what I said to my husband a few hours ago. Shit, we lost a bundle already so what's a bit more for freedom..Yessssssss

This day in history, September 29th:

The Second American Revolution won its first major battle against the globalist bankers in 2008 by voting against a bill that would have turned America into a de facto socialist nation. Dr. Ron Paul, a congressman from Texas, who ran for President earlier in the year, is often refered to as "The General" and "The Refounding Father" of the Second American Revolution. In his usual humility, Dr. Paul never accepted credit for the Second Revolution. Instead, he credited the strength of his supporters in the face of fear, market collaspe, and media ridicule.

Apple was already toast today before this

What's crazy about this is that Apple is selling products like crazy. They sold 7.5 million
3G iPhones so far with estimates of selling 40+ million in over 60+ countries by next
year. They are one of the few computer companies that is still making yearly gains in
the market. The only reason that the stock is tanking is because of these damn collapsing
banks.

The downgrade today was what I meant:

"Shares of Apple Inc. plunged to a 52-week low Monday after analysts downgraded the stock because
they believe slowing consumer spending will hit its computer business."

It's not the banks so much as people are tapped out and inflation is killing them. 3G phones are a luxury for most people.

At their prices all apple products are luxuries for probably 99.9% of the world.

People need to get a grip on what's important and not important and quit spending on credit "like it's going out of style".

I've had the same color screen Internet capable cell for 5 years and it works fine.

What got us to where we are is a small percentage of the world's people buying things they don't really need
instead of investing in things that would raise the standard of living for all.

Babies are dying in the world at this very minute for lack of a few cents of food
and modern culture worships celebrities who spend $10,000+ a night on a hotel room.

It makes me sick.
