Wayne Allyn Root

That shows terrible judgement on his part. Who explained the bill to him before he voted on it? Why did he believe them? Why was Ron Paul not duped into voting for it?

I'm more than willing to forgive people who come forth, hat in hand, and admit their mistakes, but I think Barr still has some explaining to do about a variety of things.

He did say he regretted voting for it. Much of the defense of his vote comes in the form of "he had to because he had to get the sunset provision in." If that is true, then why does he regret voting for the bill? Or does he? If he regrets voting for it does he regret getting the sunset provisions? It makes no sense. I wish he would clarify.

He never did. He voted for the PATRIOT Act because he was told that the bill prevented the government from misusing it. Remember, nobody in Congress read that bill, so Barr voted for it thinking the people were protected.

This is not correct. Barr voted for the House version of the bill (which included a sunset provision that Barr got inserted) so that he could be appointed to the House-Senate conference committee and make sure the sunset provision remained in the bill. He did this at the request of the ACLU and other organizations that were fighting the Patriot Act.

If Barr hadn't done this, the Patriot Act still would have passed, but minus the sunset provision.

Paul supports should hound WAR at every event he appears at about his comments against Ron Paul. Or even get the LP and Barr to replace him.

Barr is just barely palatable to a good number of Ron Paul supporters. But Wayne Allan Root tips the balance firmly against him. The LP should read our message loud and clear: root out this guy or lose our votes to Chuck Baldwin.

Thank you, I'm glad you communicated that - but Barr was under the impression that the government wouldn't have the ability to misuse it, at least that's what I took from our conversation.
