it was used to put fear in the romans. but the bible is only a collection of writings put together by man for an agenda. If not then there would be many more writings in the bible,but they were all left out for reasons men chose. there are more writings that could add up to ten bibles that were not included why? so men could determine what was in the bible and not in the bible,hence the bible was created by men ,edited by men,if there was no agenda then the bible should be like a series of books not just one book edited by men. . . .

I would like to think there are some missing writings, perhaps another letter or two by Paul and maybe one day it will be revealed. I'm waiting to hear about the discovery of a 450' wooden runabout in the mountains of Iran!

Perhaps the Romans WERE spooked by the writings of the Law and Prophets, and perhaps there were some 'inserts' that don't belong, but the scripture a.k.a. "The Bible" is the closest collection of documents we have available that reveal God's plan for mankind and to poo-poo the pearls within will only hinder your walk.

the canonization of the bible was a political process.

I try to stay out of these types of threads, but just know, open minded people have looked into the process and walked away unimpressed.

AHHAHA!!!! I've seen this whole movie. It's pretty sad from beginning to end. Those poor, poor kids. Did you catch the "speaking in tongues" though? The woman holding up the cardboard Bush starts rambling, "bisha kaya hamaya la baka howa." No, that ain't Aramaic she's speaking it's 100%, pure, unfrefined, oak-aged, turd scented BULLLLLLLSHIIIIIIIIIIT. So hilarious. It's embarassing though that this is from my home state of Missouri. Those poor kids.
 
Furthermore, please stop with the "christianity brought you the constitution." Ugh... another steaming pile driven into the minds of young christians. The founders were all Deists, not christians. It was the era of the enlightenment. "But, there's references to God in so many early writings!" You say. Really? That's nice. Where is the christian bible mentioned in the constitution? How about Jesus, is he in the bill of rights? No? Hmm... interesting.

Interesting things to note: "One Nation Under God," did not appear on ANY money in the U.S. until post civil war, and it was not added to the pledge of allegiance until the 1960's. Christian roots? Please.

okay, what they are doing is called prayer... when they are 'reaching their hands out' to the bush cutout they are not trying to 'let me touch the man' type thing! They are PRAYING for him. The woman asked for the children to bless Bush.

Now, they might be mislead and their eyes not open to the truth of what the Gospel says about not taking up the sword in the physical world here and endorsing a very unGodly and unBiblical (because it is not Constitutional) war, but it doesn't mean that praying for the President is wrong.

My son watched that clip and his response was "Maybe President Bush will pull us out of Iraq" ...this coming from a boy who has been told the truth and not drank the kool-aid of the Neo-Cons.... a boy who desires to someday be a Congressman or Senator.... AND would readily take part in those types of activities of prayer and worship that you saw in that clip.
 
teshuah if you watch the movie, you would see they are praising him not praying for him. the kids in the movie are brainwashed through and through to support the war, bush, and anti-Islam beliefs as if the war is some kind of holy war. :mad:
 
i realize this... but a lot of the comments about this seem that no matter what this is unacceptable to be teaching the children this...

but what about in the instance of teaching them about true liberty in our Country and encouraging them to use these methods for GOOD rather than the neo-con agenda. That is my point...

is it still bad then? Is it still brainwashing and 'child abuse'? Or no only because you agree with teaching them those things?

You blame Atheism for eroding our rights?

I'm not Anti-Xtian, but I am atheist, I believe that there is no god, and we are given our freedoms from our 'creator': the system of life in nature.

Atheism isn't any part of the communist rhetoric of the far east, nor any socialist movement I've heard of. The USSR brand of communism did have atheism as part of the state viewpoint, but only so that the state could preclude natural rights of the people by taking the place of 'god' in existing religious structure and thought.

I've said this before, and I still hold it to be true: We are a "Christian Nation" as much as we are a "White Nation", and for the same reasons. If you proudly proclaim the former, you should proudly proclaim the latter. And just as there is nothing wrong with being white or Christian, defining what other people must identify as (i.e. being a citizen of a "Christian nation" regardless of belief) is antithetical to our movement.

It is those that cannot understand the philosophy of this movement that have doomed it, not those with some meaningless groupthink label (i.e. 'the atheists' or 'the truthers'), but those who put their own beliefs above the principles of Liberty for all Humans in thought, belief, and free association.
