Washington Post: "Southern Republicans have seceded from sanity”

Hmm....wonder how that is going to play with my southern friends...

What the most funny of all about this is that "Old Dixie" is democrats.

no, seriously.

pre- and post-civil war, all the way through reconstruction, segregation, integration, and civil rights. Everything "dixie" was democrat. It was democrats releasing dogs on black children trying to integrate the schools, it was democrats that formed the KKK. LOL Now they re trying to say the GOP needs to kill Old Dixie? what they hell are they trying to say exactly? That we should just give up and let these monsters make slaves out of them again?

Free Americans wanting to say free and run their own affairs without the government screwing up their lives...yeah that sounds crazy. But they haven't seen crazy yet.

Everyone needs to be careful with collectivism here, and I don't just mean North/South. Looking at that county-by-county map of election results that were posted, almost all the rural counties are red, and counties with an urban populace are blue.

Take Pennsylvania for instance. The state is predominantly red by county, but the urban centers in the NW (Erie), SW (Pittsburgh), and SE (Philadelphia) are what swung the vote.

We should always try and stay away from devolving into us/them disputes, if possible.

So now it's the mods vs us, huh?! :p

They drive wedges and claim we're doing it. They're trying to drive wedges by claiming we're driving wedges. And they seem to think they're subtle with it.

They aren't. Just be the little boy who casually mentions the emperor has no clothes, and keep making friends--in the rural areas and in the cities.

That map looks more red than blue to me. (I am color blind though)
If it is mostly red, it makes me wonder how Obama won.

I think voter fraud when looking at the disparity in Cook County-Chicago and LA.

We have a winner!

Obama's victory margin in the popular vote is about 8.5 million votes. The Obama margin in the following counties:

Cook (Chicago): 1,083,653
Los Angeles: 1,079,562
Philadelphia: 458,916
Wayne (Detroit): 439,423
Manhattan: 411,286
Cuyahoga (Cleveland): 245,467
Broward (Ft. Lauderdale): 243,567
Prince George's: 218,195
Hennepin (Minneapolis): 189,435
DeKalb (Atlanta): 188,199

Or, over half of Obama's victory margin came from 10 counties in the US.

The largest county McCain victory margin was Maricopa (Phoenix) 113,253. Only 1 of the largest 20 cities went McCain, and 3 of the top 30.

Democratic votes are concentrated in the largest cities of the US, and Republican votes in rural areas and small cities / suburbs.

well said....

ofcourse The city's are a bunch of democrats.

No wonder people in the citys are a bunch of assholes..

Guess who else gets told they're crazy when they've had enough and decide it's time to leave.

Abused spouses.

Interesting article. But note the context. She takes a simple and silly poll about Barack Obama's birth and turns it into a "sanity" test. If you don't believe Obama was born in America or if you are "not sure" then you must be insane. Also note that the poll doesn't do a breakout by region AND party. Unless you think that only 23 percent of southerners are democrats (obviously not true) a lot of democrats answered no or not sure!

And here's the crux of the issue. They (our enemies in the MSM) are trying to frame the debate! If you don't parrot the MSM line you must be "crazy". People who simply "aren't sure" about where Obama was born are lumped in with people who are sure that he wasn't and they are lumped in with people who believe a particular (forged?) birth certificate. It's the same game that was played with 9/11. Even members of the 9/11 commission have admitted that their report was based on lies and that key information (like foreign sponsorship of terrorism) was censored from the final report. But the MSM lumped everybody who questioned 9/11 into one homogeneous group and spun the story that if you don't fully believe a report that was admittedly based on lies, or if you believe there was a "cover up" even though a commission member admitted there was a "cover up" you must be crazy.

Really, most of us have missed the point of smear campaigns. We think it's all about marginalizing the "liberty movement". Rather it's about marginalizing free thought. Unfortunately we sometimes do the MSM's job for it when we attempt to police our own movement. I don't agree with the birther position. But there's nothing wrong with not being willing to swallow the MSM position hook line and sinker (stinker?).

John M. Drake
