I am monitoring local news broadcasts to see what's being said about political campaigns. Tonight, the local NBC affiliate is saying that too much internet use wrecks your ability to make decisions! Sounds like propaganda to me, because internet usage can lead to discovery of what's really going on.

One way to know if it is propaganda is to ask, is this story being repeated on local channels around the country? Have you heard it? Turn on your local news and see if it's on there, please!

Emmmm.... I would say, listening to too much establishment media wrecks your ability to make decisions. If the media is saying this, they are afraid people are going to wake up and see they have been lied to by the establishment media all these years.

I heard about the report a few weeks ago, but can't remember where I heard it. It was in the context that people don't retain information in the same way, because the brain apparently knows it can always go to Google if it needs the answer.

That's what I suspected the context was. It's true, too: We're habitually training ourselves to discard any information we can easily look up. Einstein would be proud (never memorize what you can look up), but taken to extremes, this tendency can be harmful to our memory. In a similar vein, our society's emphasis on multi-tasking is harming our ability to deeply concentrate as well...but this isn't inherently related to the Internet.

they're talking about the extreme cases where people are so addicted they quit their jobs to play video games or whatever , not the people who spend 2-3 hours a day after work chatting or on forums etc

Today's big propaganda piece seems to be how Ron Paul is a "fly in the ointment of the GOP".
