Now, a new group — the Ron Paul crowd — is taking over some formal GOP structures, including in Iowa. Ed Kilgore has a great post detailing some of the wackier things they’ve put in the official Iowa Republican Party platform — for example, eliminating the Agriculture Department. In Iowa. Oh, there’s plenty more, including phasing out Social Security and Medicare; overall, it has called for a federal government half the size of what Paul Ryan has advocated.

They just don't get it

Ive been calling myself a "PAUL-atition" since 2008...never really caught on...yet

PAUL-atition!

What I like about a 'Paul' party is that it has a very consistent foundation to reflect on... not some abstract platform that can easily be twisted, but an actual person of the times with a congressional recod and many interviews talking about a wide range of issues.

I hate that the media tries to portray Paul Ryan as some great conservative that really wants limited government.

Thats the neocon meme. Just like the media goons who claim to be conservative and they have managed to herd a whole lot of sheep with it...same with war=patriotism....spying on citizens=diligence..etc.

It shouldn't be that difficult to phrase or spin how detrimental the federal agencies are. Mocking their sanctimonious titles is a simple start. How about calling the Dept. of Agriculture the "Dept. of Monsanto Corporation" or something? I mean, Ron Paul refers to the Patriot Act as the "Repeal The 4th Amendment Act."

How dare people in Iowa want to reduce bureaucratic overhead in the agriculture industry. Crazy Paul-supporting Iowans.

+1
I already call them the Dept. of Monsanto. Works great on the "leftists" who don't like corporate power. Don't make them defend the "government", they're used to that after arguing with neo-cons posing as small government types, make them defend one of the things they hate most, a multi-national corporation.
