WaPo anoints Rand's 'Obama Impersonator' ad as 'the ad of the day'.

Funny! WaPo say the impersonation is "spot-on", while WSJ claims it is "unconvincing". I thought it was very good, myself.

I wish I lived in KY just so I could watch the commercials...

there is functional youtube and/or video of it in places.
i admit it must look better on a KY area high def tv set!

Makes me sad that our politics devolves to this (to sway voters), instead of real serious debate.

Not a knock on Rand or the ad, btw, and more a commentary on voters.

The politics of personal destruction rules the day, sad but true.

Otherwise Ron Paul would be President, not Barack "empty rhetoric" Obama! :o

It hasn't devolved. Politics has never been about honest debate.

I agree, but at this point I'd say the polls are tightening and Conman's negative ads against Rand are making inroads. I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and now's never been a better time.

I'd be nice to have serious debate but these people will take no part in that. They only know to result to smearing and tearing down ones character. History has shown if a candidate doesn't respond to these attacks they lose.

Also imo, I think Rand has more ammunition up his sleeve than Conman, but is holding out until the end. Rallying the social conservative voters with the abortion issue is a must about 2 to 3 weeks out. If we can get these folks out in force I say we win by 7 to 10 points. So far there hasn't seemed to be a strong push on that issue, but since Conman is setting the issues for this senate run with the "drug issue" I say Rand interject the abortion issue and how Jack's support of Obamacare pays for it.

P.S. This would rally the social conservative voter (46 second mark):

It's not devolution, it has been this way for a few hundred years.

Right, my point is not that politics has changed, more that this discourse is at such a level that it educates no one and just plays on people's psychological buttons (emotions) and does nothing to help voters make an informed decision.

In the sense that 15 second attack ads are a devolution from a serious statement about policy that would educates voters. Totally unrealistic, sure, and I'm sure it's always been this way. But something tells me the propagation of media into every household and into every minute of our lives has made it more prolific.

Anyhow, hope the ad helps Rand, pulling for him here in MA.
