Walter Williams on Nullification, Secession and More

All the AoC needed in way of economics was free trade between the states. Prior to that states set up tariffs among themselves. The Constitution got rid of this but went one step further giving the federal government the ability to regulate interstate commerce. Which has been used to further expand the power of the Feds.

Well, now we have that economic union. It's grand isn't it? I wish I had your optimism that we can just open peoples eyes and the central banking system will just wither away from the heat of righteous wrath. I don't have that kind of faith in my fellow countrymen. The more likely reaction would meh, what's on tv tonight honey?

I see the problem differently. There was already enough support for an audit of the Fed in the House. Harry Reid denied an up or down vote in the Senate. Yet, more and more pressure is being put on them. Along with the Fed generally comes a war economy because people will not pay silver and gold coins to wage war. With fiat they just take it. I believe that Ron Paul made a strong case for that.

"Gold, Peace and Prosperity" - Ron Paul

"People fight the gold standard," said Ludwig von Mises, "because they want to substitute national autarky for free trade, war for peace, totalitarian government omnipotence for liberty." It is no coincidence that the nineteenth century, a time of gold coin standards for the most part, was an era of peace. Nor is it a coincidence that the twentieth century combines wars with paper money."
