Wait a few months or years and see who shows up dead. That is usually how you find out what really happened in Russia.

I put this here not because it has any current legs, but because it is an interesting take from out of Western channels.
This would be some 4D chess here.

If that was true, why were helicopters and planes shot down by Wagner? Russia lost a lot of pilots and equipment. I'm more inclined to think this was an internal power struggle. But you never know. If Wagner makes a move on Kiev from Belarus, I would not be shocked.

Were there helicopters shot down though?

The only semi-credible report I've seen is of a missile being fired, and missed:

I saw pictures and video of an IL-22 shot down. I only saw reports of the helicopters. I don't discount the possibilty this whole thing could have been staged, but it would be an elaborate hoax and for what? If Putin wanted to stage Wagner in Belarus, Belarus would have allowed it. I don't see what is gained except perhaps some FUD.

It's not exactly an elaborate hoax, there are false reports (and recycled videos) of aircraft being shot down pretty much constantly, on both sides. Given the general chaos of recent events I would expect such disinfo to be higher than even usual.

edit: Prigo apparently has apologized for the IL-22, so at least that one is true (probably). Not a far fetch to assume that a few other aircraft were downed as well
