I had thought the voter registration cut off date was the 31st of May, however I was told by multiple parties today that it was 21st, after looking online, they're right. It was yesterday... of course.

Is there ANY WAY I can still register as a republican and vote in the primaries next month? What do I have to do? Or have I completely screwed the pooch?

Darn it. I let Ron Paul down.

I don't necessarily want to vote in the General Elections, because I fear Mitt Romney will win the primaries. If that's the case, who will I vote for? I certainly won't be voting for Obama. I wanted to register as a Independent anyway, however I was told that to vote in the California primary republican elections you must be a registered Republican, which is stupid, but whatever. Either way I screwed up, and I'm completely disappointed in myself. I contacted the Registration office and they gave the same answer as you. One day... one single measly day. What a letdown. Sorry guys...

The general election has more elections that just the Presidential race. There will be statewide, county and city measures where you can make your voice heard, such as raising or lowering taxes. There also might be candidates for Congress or the state legislature that share Ron Paul's views.

Idontknow - You did screw up and can't vote for Ron Paul in the primary. However, make sure you register to vote so you can vote in November.

Just to make you aware though--and this is the main reason for my post--you do NOT need to register Republican to vote for Ron Paul in November. In the general election, anybody can vote for anybody regardless of party registration. It's only the primary in California that is "closed." So if for whatever reason you don't want to register Republican (and believe me, I understand), just register to vote. Personally I will be writing in Ron Paul's name if Romney wins the nomination, because knowing what I know, I cannot vote for one of the Obamney twins. They would need to use my cold, dead finger to vote for either one of those two.

Idon'tknow, I don't know why people wait till the last moment to do this? I don't know.

Please register Republican and stay involved for the future.

That's not as simple as you think.

To be able to write in Paul in CA, the following needs to happen, and Paul himself should do this, not the grassroots.

[1] A Statement of Write-In Candidacy For President Of The United States form.
[2] Declaration Of Write-In Candidacy Presidential Elector forms, each of which must be notarized.
The declarations of write-in candidacy must be filed with the Secretary of State in person or by mail.[/TD]

Hmmm... Wasn't aware of this. I hope his campaign is aware of it and I hope Ron Paul is planning on doing this, if he doesn't get the nomination. I'm really hoping for a brokered convention though. Thanks for the information!
