ill only get to go if its in June or July plus there is alot of people travelling around that time(esp. July 4th) so i think our voice will be heard the most on the 4th.

March on DC. Best dates

I can understand why June 21 would be a great day for the march. I would like people to think of primaries still to come. It would also be great for American to see the march before the final primaries in May.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expectiong different results." Benjamin Franklin

All kids are out of school for those parents who NEED that to happen. All the graduates who want to plan a summers vacation will be able to do so since their senior year just finished which they odds are could NOT have taken time from especially those struggling just to graduate. Those who want to plan summer vacations will be able to plan a vacation to dc for the rally for freedom. It would be both educational and fun.

There are a million reasons to have the march AFTER the regular school system and not simply because of those with kids. Now if the kids got left here with a babysitter or whatever then sure the moms and the dads could go to a march before school was let out but the numbers in this scenario would be MUCH lower then a date where a family of 5 can pack up, use their summer vacation time for a rally for freedom in d.c.

Just look at the stats and see that MORE people do their traveling AFTER the school season so why no tap into that and play the odds that if more people can travel after school ends then we should have the rally for freedom AFTER school ends.

prove me wrong lol

June 21st is the ONLY reasonable date to have this thing. Set it and we will promote the hell out of it Ron Paul!!!!!

Its right before the big 4th of july dash so odds are hotels and travel would be cheaper as well....

i voted for flag day, because it is the most obvious symbol of our country, and we are defending our freedom, which it is supposed to represent. but june 21 is good too, and is the most popular. whichever, we sould have one big march, one that the most people will be enthusiastic about and attend. either day gives planning time now, to make it successful.

tarzan's summerschool idea is great too.

I'm for Constitution Day. The other major holidays would be too chaotic and will divert attention away from us.

My apologies for being repetitive here (I started a new thread on this topic earlier) I should have posted it here from the start:

I'm not at liberty to say, but I've been email pals over the past few years with someone who is a reclusiven rockstar from the 70's. I mentioned the Ron Paul march but he seemd reluctant to get involved.

However, aside from the march, he did mention that he would love to have a series of benefits to raise money for the injured service people coming home from the war. He feels the country has let them down. He has many close ties with other musicians (like Stevie Nicks) who have privately visited these injured vets and are genuinely concerned about them.

Now Here's My Idea:

I was wondering, since Ron Paul gets the most donations from the military than any other candidate, and as far as I know, the theme of this march/rally is about his messgae of Freedom, it seems like a no brainer that we should somehow include the injured war vets in this equation.

Afterall, these vets are our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, sons, daughters, etc. They too were mislead about this unconstitutional war, but THEY are the ones paying the greatest price of all. The Freedom message is about following the constituion -No unconstitutional wars; no infringement of our liberties. You know that a draft will be next and Ron Paul is the only one against it. Here are som positivies I thought up of if this can be pulled off:

1. Raises more awareness for the injured vets.
2. It would shame the government
3. Perhaps thwart any attempts by outside forces to instigate trouble against us
4. Perhaps negate any attempted media smears against us
5. Garner more supporters from both sides
6. More media attention if more famous people are involved

7. Thought of a new one - Might diffuse any animosity between pro-war and anti-war people.

My thought was to make it a Friday - Sunday event. The kickoff would be the Ron Paul Freedom march, then maybe at night hold the first in a series of concerts throughout the local area. Saturday and Sunday could be smaller rallies and maybe information booths about how we could help injured vets as well as educating people about our constituton and how our liberties are being stolen from us.

Any thoughts here? I know, it sounds like an even bigger undertaking but I think it could work. Email the campaign with this idea if you think it's good. (I'm afraid I lost their new address for the march)

worthy.

This may be my own bias, but I think we should have two marches on DC. One on April 15 since it is already being organized:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=122361

And then another big one in the summer. Why not have two big marches? We had two big money bombs. I think the campaign headquarters needs to make a decision about this suggestion very soon. We need to get people motivated and get something done to to get people fired up.

R[∃VO˩]UTION
MARCH

A lot of careful thought should be put into the date before it is decided upon.
We need to make sure a lot of people will be able to go to this march.

Ron Paul called for the march to occur on 1 of 2 dates on the Alex Jones show:

"Memorial Day Weekend" or "Fourth of July Weekend"

I would still like to be able to suggest other dates to him with reasons.
MANY have concerns about picking dates on popular holidays.
He is an intelligent man and should be able to take more information into consideration.

I don't care what date is picked as long as more people will be able to go, even if I can not make it to one of the dates, or I don't like it for some reason.
If we do decide on a date it must be followed and no longer disputed, or we will have problems.

We need to pick one that is not to far away or to close.

Once decided, everyone must be in agreement of the date. We should also only have one web sight to promote for pledges, so support will be galvanized.

I like this domain and they plan to use the date that Ron Paul agrees on:
RevolutionMarch.com

It is VITAL that we ALL work together on this. We can not afford to screw this one up.

I agree. We need to work with the campaign not against it. Memorial day or 4th of july weekend.

The Solstice beats the 4th rush and lets the students come as well.

The 4th is too expensive.

June is just too far off. I think it should be in March. But that's not even on the list. For pete's sake people. We have to do something sooner than the end of June. Your talking almost 5 months away.

By then, Obama vs. McCain will be deep on erveryone mind. It will be decided, and there will be nothing to stop the two.
Even the middle of the raod conservatives will be set on either Obama or McCain.

Ron Paul is lagging right now. So action should be taken RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Remember how stupid of an idea it was for Bush to take two months to invade Afghanistan. Just think about that, when your thinking about waiting almost 5 months to invade Washington D.C.

April 15 at the latest is the best decision.

Considering all you can do is sit there with a stupid look on your face, why don't you give a better reason to why we should all wait ....& wait.. & wait....... & wait........

Is it that maybe your thinking that it will be called off, and you won't be forced to get off your lazy butts and help the only friggin politician in this century who's ever done something for you and our future. The one man who has fought against the very people we all against. Ron Paul gave us quick decisive action. And he deserves the same. This march should have been planned before the primaries even started. At least we can have it befor thay all end.

Is it sinking in to everyone (the lazy everyone's) that Ron Paul isn't going to win because he hasn't won anything thats been voted or caucused? So now, if you just wait a few months it will all go away and you can all go back to your normal lives. And it won't take away from your vacation time. Or your lazy sundays. Then you can justify everything with a "well, we tried".

Get off your lazy butts, and lets get to Washington within a month. All this crazy indecisions, debates, polls and reason aren't getting anything done.
If we're gonna do this, let's just go on and do it. March 21st, 28th, or as late as April 5th. The sooner the better.

And we need to flood Ron Paul's, John McCain's and Mike Huckabee's email with suggestions of another debate. There are still 3 in the race. There needs to be another debate. John McCain is turning into the laughing stock of the GOP. At least with the voters. And the voters are the ones that count.

Ron Paul has gone coast to coast for us. He has fought fo us in congress. And he's has always done right by us. And waiting isn't returning the favor.

And if you don't, then I will know your not as devoted as your trying to make yourself out to be. It's easy to sit behind a computer and blog all day.

If we wait very long, there may never be another Ron Paul who will fight for us.

We certainly need to do this sooner than later. we need a bounce for the late primaries, because we need 5 states walking into the Convention. Too many people now think that Ron Paul has already dropped out.

April 19th is the best date, because it is on a weekend, it it the date of the first victory (and the first battle) of the original American Revilution (Lexington and Concord day) and it is also the 'holy day' for nearly ALL of the other Liberty Movements in America that have been fighting for us for the last 20 years while the rest of us sat on our hind end and did nothing.

April 19th, March for Liberty!

You know, there's a reason why armies would send out their first wave...

I've already argued why May or June is better (or the RNC, I have nothing against that). So I'll just point out the biggest concern: Turnout.

Anybody who votes for any date before May is simply living in fantasy land. It WILL NOT WORK without the full support of the college crowd, because they make up a large part of this group and WILL NOT leave campus during finals week.

Don't believe the hype. I volunteered in the college town of Charleston and I volunteered in the college town of Tuscaloosa.

College students won't even bother to go 4 blocks to VOTE unless it's for Obama. They sure as heck won't go 500 miles to Washington DC.

By making the march after the late state primaries, you will not get any more people, you are crippling Ron Paul's voice at the Convention itself, and you will in all likelihood have significantly fewer people as so many will no longer care.

You can argue all you want. But, I talked to three people today who told me that they didn't know Ron Paul was still in the race. Imagine how many will think that 4 or 5 months from now.

There needs to be some kind of "attention getter". And it needs to be soon. Like March 29th. And who made the law that it had to be any significance to some other day?

Let if be a Ron Paul day. And just that. We aren't marching for any other reason than Ron Paul. Let his day stand alone. Just like he has done for years. Only this day, March 29th, he won't be standing alone.

May 1st... May Day..
and here is why

ILWU to Shut Down West Coast Ports May 1 Demanding End to War in Iraq, Afghanistan
In a major step for the U.S. labor movement, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) has announced that it will shut down West Coast ports on May 1, to demand an immediate end to the war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Middle East. This is the first time in decades that an American union has decided to undertake industrial action against a U.S. war. The action announced by the powerful West Coast dock workers union, to stop work to stop the war, should be taken up by unions and labor organizations throughout the United States and internationally. And the purpose of such actions should be not to beg the bourgeois politicians whose hands are covered with blood, having voted for every war budget for six and a half years, but a show of strength of the working people who make this country run, and who can shut it down!

MARCH

"June 21" is the day we march!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_vVaZxTno

Lets get this message spread far and wide. We need youtube videos and myspace bulletins and everything else. We need to do everything we can to make this the biggest event that this nation has ever seen. We need to show not only this nation that we mean business but also ourselves. We need to prove to ourselves and others that we are not just a small group of computer hackers and that we are not going away anytime soon.

I am not saying that you should not organize any other event, but we have a date from the man himself and I for one intend to use it as an official date. I am sure the majority of others will agree. And we need the majority to agree to this if we want this event to be as big as it possibly can be.

Any Holiday Choice Would Be Terrible!

FOLKS! You absolutely CANNOT choose a holiday like Memorial Day, or The 4th, for countless reasons of the most rudimentary logic. FIRST AND FOREMOST..WE LOSE ANY AND ALL MEDIA IMPACT!! Think about it people. This historic event must be THE ONLY BIG EVENT happening on that particular day. June 21st is the most logical choice! Forget about trying to get permits on the big holidays, plus the fact that a PROTEST CRACKDOWN BY BIG BROTHER is oh so easy to do on a big holiday. Finally, everyone needs to see and hear Dr. Pauls last campaign video where he states that although his HQ would not be organizing an official rally or march, he states that "JUNE 21st would be an appropriate date". Let's end the debate on this folks..if your a true patriot, there is NO OTHER DATE REMOTELY AS SIGNIFICANT OR EFFECTUAL THEN JUNE 21ST. Let's carve this date in stone and get on with THE PLANNING.
