*VIDEO* The Crazy South Carolina Debate Audience

It drives me crazy. My mom (who won't listen to me when I talk about Ron Paul, but apparently listens to her coworkers) informed me, very proud of herself for knowing something, that someone told her that Newt Gingrich won the debate. I asked her why they thought that, and she said because he got a standing ovation. She had no idea why he got a standing ovation, mind you, just that he got one was good enough for her. When I tried to explain all of the strange happenings at this debate, she rolled her eyes and said 'I knew I shouldn't have brought it up.' #sh!+ my neocon mother says

I truly find it unsettling, seeing those people explode with elation upon hearing Newt Gingrich say, "Kill them." There are people- ordinary-looking men and women, mind you- pumping their fists into the air, bouncing up and down with joy, even giving standing ovations, like they've just witnessed an amazing sports play. Probably a lot of the same people who booed the Golden Rule (and most of whom probably identify themselves as Christians).

well the good thing is, maybe the people in SC will be so disgusted with those people that they will start seeing that there's something wrong.

I'm hoping anyone with common sense will realize the audience is full of uneducated (to put it mildly) people. But I think that may be too much to hope for.

short attention span theater it was... they've been so dumbed down they'll cheer whatever red meat is waved in front of them

Ive been to two other debates, both in SC (Greenville May 5 Fox and the Spartanburg one ABC) and didn't see anything like this at all in those venues. Security was tight, dress codes were enforced, attendees respected each other for the most part, and ABC mod Scott Pelley shut down the booing before it got started. The debate the other night shocked me in comparison to what I've seen. I think Fox News let in people off the street. I saw tshirts and ballcaps and other clothing that wouldnt have been allowed at the other SC debates Ive attended. This debate was different. eta: The beach venue was a lot bigger than the earlier debates btw. Were they going to sell all the tickets for $120+ each? Probably not. Gotta fill the seats anyway. How big is the Charleston venue???

We need to have people on the street outside Thursday's debate with no ticket in case it gets opened to the general public.

‎"I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of the coliseum. He'll bring them death - and they will love him for it."

Is that Michael Moore in the red baseball cap?

I noticed in the one section of RP speaking that there is a single loud word directly preceding the booing, it almost sounds like someone shouts "now!" I have extensive experience in productions similar to this one, and I know a sound cue when I hear one. It may have only been a few people that the cue was directed to but mob mentality and a concentrated booing would lead to more jeers and booing.
Audience manipulation is a lot easier than you think, for example it only takes a few people to start a standing ovation. If you don't believe me watch for it next time, there is always a couple of people that stand up first. It isn't hard to get a few people to stand up at the end of a production.

Very true, go to any taping of a comedy show and you'll see why people laugh so much. I wouldn't put it past Fox News.

The golden rule is not in the bible.

But treat your neighbour as yourself is.

You cant blame people for wanting to feel protected. The problem is that they think that NEOCON policy is the answer...

This video is like the movie Miss Congeniality. When all the contestants said world piece they got cheers. When the main character said something completely different they did not clap or go crazy. Finally she said world piece and the place went nuts.

I think we should kill traitors atfirst home first before we go around the world killing terrorists.
Let's see...who refused to go to war when drafted? That takes care of Newt. Who wants the President to continue assassination against US citizens? There goes Frothy... And who just followed Newt's "kill em" remark with his own kill em? There goes the Romulan. Done.

I don't see much difference between "treat your neighbour as yourself" and the golden rule is, but here you go:

"So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the Law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12 RSV)

I thought the South Carolina debate audience was so funny that I just had to make this video. Check it out:

+rep, and just so you know, I'm using this idea for a video...perhaps later tonight. I will make sure to credit this video as inspiration, but mine will be a different take.

Great vid- but "Bible needs a capital letter- voters we need to convert will especially notice that.
