[Video] 'The Black Swan' author Nassim Taleb endorses Ron Paul for president on CNBC

Taleb might be a great individual to review your work for you guys that have been graphing the vote flippind thing.

If he corroborates, it would certainly validate your work.

I love his response to the question about Paul's electability..."I don't care if his chances are 1% or 99%, he's the only one that can save the economy and I'm doing what's RIGHT!" (paraphrase)

very nice, basically he said he came on and out of 'hiding' just to support Ron Paul, not to sell his books, not to make his name more known, but to support Ron Paul. very nice. I just wish this could have happened before ST :(

RON PAUL’S ECONOMIC PLATFORM CHEERED BY ‘BLACK SWAN’ AUTHOR

“ONLY ONE CANDIDATE, RON PAUL, IS SAYING THE RIGHT THINGS FOR THE ISSUES WE ARE FACING.” – NASSIM TALEB

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s economic platform of fiscal restraint, Federal Reserve skepticism, and antipathy toward self-feeding bureaucracies was praised today by one of the world’s premier risk managers, who endorsed elements of the 12-term Congressman from Texas’ path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’

Nassim Taleb told CNBC that Dr. Paul’s fiscal Mayday in areas such as the threat of an impending hyperinflation tax that will harm low- and fixed-income Americans would further harm the nation’s overall economic standing. Mr. Taleb also said he’s been forced to retreat into stocks, real estate, and the euro as a means of avoiding the forthcoming dire outcome of the federal government’s profligate spending and outsize growth. In doing so, the best-selling author who specializes in outliers such as, for many, the wildly unpredictable financial events of the past few years praised the self-trained free-market economist Paul and said of Paul, “I’m a risk-based person. From my vantage point there’s only one candidate representing the right policies.”

Finally, Mr. Taleb said that Paul is the sole person in the American political landscape that has the courage to take on the Federal Reserve and recognizes that there is no conventional, quick fix to the ruinous financial situation.

“We’re overjoyed that best-selling author of ‘The Black Swan’ Nassim Taleb gave such a ringing endorsement of Ron Paul’s economic policy prescriptions for our ailing economy,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“Decades ago Ron Paul predicted the fallout from the counter-intuitive decision-making of policymakers of both political parties. Dr. Paul’s ‘Plan to Restore America’ cuts $1 trillion out of the federal budget in year one, reins in Washington’s intrusion into the national economy, and audits the Fed. If heeded Ron Paul’s plan will bring about sustainable, lasting economic prosperity not seen in a long time,” added Mr. Benton.

I just don't understand why people aren't waking up more quickly. I just don't understand why people aren't waking up more quickly. I just don't understand why people aren't waking up more quickly. I just don't understand why people aren't waking up more quickly.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times. How may times will I have to say this? :(

The simple answer to that is they don't want to. They are in denial(or ignorant).

I don't want to embed the video to detract from this thread, but go check this video out and you'll have your answer. I do believe this is why the founders wisely made us a republic and not a democracy.

Many if not most people are so self-obsessed, that it's only when it stops being someone else and starts being them that they finally "wake up" to the glaringly obvious.

Of course, by then it's too late to do anything about it.

Thomas Paine put it best when he wrote:

"He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself."

...may doing what is right catch on....

Until you're blue in the face, or until you realize that most people don't have enough of the necessary understanding of reality to do so. Waking up requires a certain amount of education which isn't commonly available in the USA anymore.

Hey, author of that movie with the hot lesbians is endorsing Paul! SWEEET!

"I dont trust them with deficits, the OTHER Republicans".

This guy got on the show with the point of promoting Ron Paul.

It was the verbal equivalent of grabbing America by its shoulders and shaking it as best he could.

Taleb is a man who didnt grow up in this country, which is why he's probably one reason he's able to break through the establishment brainwashing and partisanship of the dumb redneck masses. I like the fact that he isnt even a libertarian but has obviously looked at the data carefully and concluded Ron Paul is the only guy who would do something about our problem.

Ignorance really is bliss to the the dummies in our country. As long as people stuff their fat faces 3 times a day and have a roof over their head, whatever else happens outside their bubbles is inconsequential and irrelevant.

Slightly off topic, but there is an interesting article by Nassim Taleb here, dating from August 2009.

Some quotes:

I despair of the Obama administration's ability to fix this financial crisis and prevent future ones. I am appalled by the dangers it has been creating and its takeover by the same economic establishment responsible for this crisis.

Economists have been no better in their predictions than cab drivers. We have an "expert" problem, in which the expert provides you with misplaced confidence, but no information. Because we think, correctly, that the dermatologist, the baker, the chemist are true experts (they know more about their respective subjects than the rest of us), we swallow the canard that the economists at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Bank of England and the US Federal Reserve are also experts, without checking their record. This reliance on faux experts is, for the most part, what got us here. Now it is continuing with the build-up of government deficit and an increased reliance on flimsy forecasts by the Obama administration.

. . . anyone who listened to a grandmother who survived the Depression would have been warned against debt and been better prepared than Ben Bernanke and Alan Greenspan, respectively chairman and former chairman of America's Federal Reserve.
