You guys are misconstruing what he said in this particular instance. He was stating that big government and disorder go hand in hand. He was criticizing big government here.

He said, "Government needs to be big if people don't order their lives correctly" He went on to explain how there is disorder everywhere, so that is why we have government everywhere.

He is saying that the reason that there is big government is because there is big disorder. He wants you to believe that big government is the fault of people who can't seem to figure out how to run their lives in an orderly fashion.

His solution to big government is to somehow bring order to people's lives. Most likely through forcing his definition of order upon us all.

Well, I can only listen to his strident, mendacious voice for so long, so I don't have a take on the exact quote. I will say though, that people tend to get the government they deserve, at least in a democracy.

This is the putting of the cart before the horse if you will that conservatives believe in. They think that we cannot have limited government till all the people will live their lifes the way the church feels is necessary. They often quote some old dude saying something like' our government is for a moral people' Some old dude with a wig, I cant remember.

But what they don't get is big government encourages the people to be immoral. Only freedom will weed out the stupid. They put the damn cart before the horse.

P.S. The more I learn, the more I hate conservatives.
