[Video] Rand Paul vs. John Kerry at Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Syria 9/3/13

I think its great that we have someone like Rand in the U.S. senate to take on these assholes. If it wasn't for Rand then our views would have almost zero representation in these matters. But part of me would give my right nut to see Ron Paul in the same situation, and see what kind of questions he would ask that smug douchebag.

I thought Rand was on the receiving end of an impressive speech at the end, but at the beginning did a fantastic job of making Kerry and the Obama administration look like the hypocrites that they are. His only mistake was not responding more strongly when Kerry turned the question back on him, the rest was just Kerry being impressive and there's not much Rand can do about that.

Anytime and I mean anytime the question of constitutionality is brought up, Rand should always quote the President and, where time permits, Biden too. They were very clear and concise with their views on the issue back in 2007. Use their own words against them. I can't understand why he hasn't yet.

That being said, he wasn't as good as he could be but we are over analyzing this thing. More important by many orders of magnitude was that he was the only anti war voice in that hearing.

Uhm, he's been doing that for a week now. You must have missed it, he quoted biden talking about impeachment of bush, talked about Obama saying presidents couldn't go to war without congress. There have been plenty of news bits about it.

Something sad about McCain being right next to Rand. It is like he was surrounded by a brood of vipers.

"In our opinion, and from our experience, there is nothing in South Vietnam, nothing which could happen that realistically threatens the United States of America. And to attempt to justify the loss of one American life in Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos by linking such loss to the preservation of freedom, which those misfits supposedly abuse, is to use the height of criminal hypocrisy, and it is that kind of hypocrisy which we feel has torn this country apart."

I think that was a good exchange. What did I learn, let us see:

1. Kerry served in Vietnam, did anyone NOT know that.
2. It's only a "war" if someone on your side dies. Attacking another country is really not a "war" unless you say it is. This is good to know, the terrorist could use this information.
3. There is no real defined objective except to save face for Obama.
4. McCain really needs to retire. I really question his sanity. I think the Vietnamese messed with his mind.
5. The president doesn't really need Congress, he is just being a nice guy.
6. We are the policeman, judge, and jury for the middle east. It's up to us.
7. John Kerry never took a constitutional law class.

I probably learned some other things, but I lost interest and started playing with my phone.....

It is interesting how our foreign policy can be influenced by photos. I believe that if the photos of the dead children were never released we would not be having this conversation. We have seen much genocide in Africa, but usually without the photos. We certainly don't intervene there.

I doubt he will be doing any comeback. For one there is no time for a second act and 2, he swallowed the govt line that Assad side used the chemical weapon. I cannot understand why he is so quick to believe the intel on this seeing how often the intel lies us into war. Kerry got him good in the fight

Paul is scheduled for cable TV interviews this evening. I'm sure he will fine tune a scathing and headline grabbing rebuttal.

No Fing way. That is exactly where the warmongers WANT the debate. Then it becomes NOT whether we should at all be involved but whether or not Assad used sarin. More than likely Assad DID and once they prove that, they have won the debate and right to engage in war. Weighing your arguments on whether one side or the other is the good guy is a sure losing position. We need to just stay the fuck out of the insanity of the middle east! Keep our arguments on that.

Someone made and posted a Kerry last man to die and a Rand first man to die video recently that was only seconds long.It needs to go viral.

Also, someone should ask Kerry if veterans start tossing their medals over the White House fence, will he be there to catch them?

Edit,Plus rep JJ2.This says it all in 10 seconds.

Tweet worthy!

1) Once again, the money I gave to Rand Paul is the best money I ever spent. He took a light beating, but he represented us well.

2) I think McCain is >< this close to going completely mad. And I don't mean flaming, boot-licking, neocon mad. I mean masturbating to midget porn while the senate is in session mad. I mean dry humping Nancy Pelosi mad.

3) I'm curious what the rest of the committee thought about the Paul-Kerry exchange. Final Kerry words, referring to the general who did not wish to back him up, "You pulled the rug out from under me."

John Kerry: "We need to take an action that can degrade the capacity of a man who has been willing to kill his own people..."

As opposed to Obama who would never kill Americans. Unless his Powerpoint says it's ok.
