Saw it. The middle segment of TDS is never reserved for a guest, it's either a TDS 'correspondent' piece or in the case of a major guest, a double segment for that guest. Clearly this was Trevor Noah, who is sympathetic to some of Rand's positions, lending Rand a hand b/c of the debate situation. Tavis Smiley was the booked guest, Rand was added in last minute. A testament to liberty's trans-party appeal. Not unlike Leno bringing in Ron a few years back.

Rand Paul Appears on The Daily Show to Debate and Drink Bourbon

Rand Paul won’t be at either Republican debate tomorrow night, but he appeared on The Daily Show tonight for a “Singles Debate” with Trevor Noah. Oh, and they also got hammered.
Yes, behind the single podium was a bunch of Kentucky bourbon, and both Paul and Noah enjoyed some drinks as the Daily Show host asked Paul about everything from foreign policy to the economy.
Paul had some fun and loosened up a bit as he dismissed policies pushed by his rivals and made the case against government over-regulation.

Most players are really a spyware and collect lots of data about your interaction with the player during the playback. This feeds into a big data pipeline which then is being analyzed in order to increase engagements. Almost nobody just serves the videos anymore.
