[Video] Rand Paul on The Daily Show w/ guest host John Oliver 8/12/13

To be fair, the Daily Show does this all the time. They usually pause the interview and do it live and not cut away like that, but Oliver was probably so frustrated, that he forgot :D
At the risk of appearing like a dummy again, does anyone know how to find the rest of the interview? I tried searching their website but it's not returning it. Does it take some time for them to post it?

...well, yes. It just aired. The entire episode isn't even online yet.

Not too often. I leave the lefty propaganda alone usually. ymmv

But when an interview is advertised I prefer to watch the interview, not 10 minutes on Australian retards and 3 minutes of an interview.

Then you should've just come in during the interview portion. If you're unfamiliar with how the show operates, then fine, but really? Criticize the format of a show, that you yourself say that you don't even watch that often, because the guest is someone in particular you wanted to see? Scale it back. The Daily Show is about as 'objective' as anything you'd find on CNN, MSNBC, Fox and so on- difference is they have a sense of humor.

And the remainder of the interview will be mostly forgotten except for those of us that want to see it. Well played Daily Show.

Case in point.

Daily Show is propaganda and formulated accordingly. Im sorry to offend your love for lefty propaganda. My humblest apologies.

Let's not put words into each other's mouths, shall we? I never claimed The Daily Show to be unbiased or not have a tilt- I said their primary objective is comedy first, news second. Nothing more, nothing less. Again, read what's there, not what you'd like to be there.

Satire can be a powerful tool in politics. They only seem to be ridiculing conservatives.

I'm not a big fan of Rand Paul, but he absolutely killed it on the Daily Show explaining healthcare in a manner that hopefully some liberals will understand.

It's propaganda. Accept it and recognize that the segment was designed to accomplish one thing. Remind liberals that Rand is anti-ACA. Notice how the entire aired interview was about red meat ACA? A topic meant to be divisive. Not drones or NSA or things that all partisans can get behind. Then when the topic can be changed....oops sorry we're out of time. You'll have to watch the rest tomorrow online only. If you remember to. And you won't. Thanks for watching!

Well, when you become the producer, director or host of a show, you're free to direct the show the way you see it with your wish list of topics for what some would see as interview pitching softballs. How's that challenge the guest to speak on things he's spoken at length about rather than face an audience that may not entirely be on board with him- a la Howard University- and make his case? Yes, the hard hitting questions ought to be left to the actual news programs as opposed to talking about the royal baby or what the Obama daughters had for lunch, but doesn't mean The Daily Show or even The Colbert Report can't throw in a serious question or two every now and then. As for extended interviews- again, it's not the first time it's been done with the show and it won't be the last. Rand Paul's interview going on longer than the format provides is no special exception.

Again, look to Jon Stewart on Crossfire:

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm glad it worked out. I was going to post a thought before it aired, but missed the time zone differential.

Basically I was going to say that Oliver usually is most "Maddow" during monologues, but is not so much "in their face" during live interviews. Not that I thought that Rand would convert him or anything, just that he doesn't seem to be a huge jerk when face to face with guests. Worry-wart level lowered to yellow. ;)

Still waiting...

TDS is supposed to embody this amusing & biting perspective on politics, but it's actually a condescending statist lovefest when you really examine it for what it is.

Well that was certainly interesting.

Oliver spending the entire interview discussing one of the few positions that raises Rand's negatives with left-leaning independents & progressives was kind of a brilliant move on the Daily Show's part.

#AvoidTalkingAboutWarDrugsAndCivilLibertiesWithRandPaulAtAllCosts

Completely disagree. It was a huge mistake on Oliver's part to bring up a healthcare bill with a doctor who knows how to debate. Rand's anecdotal evidence combined with some common sense is exactly what you need for people who love emotional appeals, aka non-libertarians.

A big part of what Rand is doing is explaining why they should listen to our position on issues of disagreement. That is essential and it's better to get it out of the way early.

And Oliver started out as an attack dog but as Rand gained steam he became an obedient little puppy. Good boy.

Nice. He came off intelligent and likeable. I loved the "dinosaur syndrome" analogy "politicians have small brains with big hearts....but dang...that was a bullet.
