[Video] Rand Paul announces candidacy for President of the United States - 4/7/15

Can someone elaborate on the economic freedom zones. I didn't really like the sound of it considering it would be picking winners and losers. If he makes the zone the entire US then i am approve.

Edit: Never mind i found the PDF.

I'm pretty sure the idea is to demonstrate just how well economic freedom works. Once the concept is proved, voters will clamor for wider adoption of the principle. It can also help spark competition between cities and regions, each trying to offer more and more freedom to draw in investment.

It's also a clever way to roll back big government using special interest groups. So for example, let's say you intend to lower taxes on everybody. You tell black groups "I will cut taxes on African Americans". You tell business interests ""I will cut taxes on businesses", you tell wealthy investors, "I will cut taxes on job creators". Basically, you phrase your proposal in a way that it appeals directly to the special interest group you are talking to, ensuring their support. So in the end, maybe you didn't lower everybody's taxes all at once, but piece by piece, interest group by interest group.

Over 960,000 dollars on the ticker now. SO close to the 1 million goal.

If you haven't been keeping up with Rands social media, I would get on that. Looks like the NH rally crowd is packed wall to wall.

So what's the consensus about his speech? I read here that it was par for the GOP course, but moderately inspiring? Lot's of Reagan worship and sabre rattling about Iran? I haven'e watched the whole thing yet, but been listening to talk radio and it's a mixed bag.

Amazing how many members we haven't seen engage a lot on the forums, suddenly appear again and try to convince us to stop our efforts.

Somebody with a direct connection to the campaign needs to alert them of a grammatical error under the "Foreign Policy and Defense" tab under Issues on Rand's official campaign site.... as we've already had a couple of spelling errors out there this should be corrected before one of his enemies notices....

Yes, nice catch.

"one of the most important votes I could made"

Pretty minor and not ironic like misspelling education () but nonetheless.

Mods? I'm serious. I'm a grammar Nazi and if my one contribution as a broke college student to the Rand campaign is finding a little error before Mother Jones runs a story on it, then dammit I did my part. LOL

This announcement was covered in Japan. A friend wrote:

"Good morning (trimmed)

I just saw Ron Pauls' son on TV in this morning. I just wanted to let you know that he has
been famous now in Japan.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!"

I was chatting with a fellow liberty person from Indiana. He had been talking with a prominent State Senator who was interested in helping with Rand's Hoosier state campaign. We were going over a list of all the elected officials who would/could endorse Rand Paul. It is absolutely astounding how far we have come in just a few years. We have Sheriffs, State officials, City councilman and more who are taking stands for liberty. We have come further here in Indiana then I ever thought possible just a few years ago. This is our time, do not let it slip by without a fight!
