INTERVIEW - Gary Johnson Wants Your Vote If Ron Paul Is Not On The Ballot, But Will You Give It To Him?

We asked our fans a question earlier this week and received a wide variety of answers. The question was, "Should Ron Paul Supporters back the Libertarian candidate if Ron Paul does not win the GOP and does not run as a 3rd party candidate?" Across the board, supporters were clear on a one specific point, which was that they will never vote for Obama or Romney, period. However, beyond that, there was no clear.........

No, he won't get my vote.

Not because I'm from the UK and therefore cannot legally vote, but because Johnson is a Democrat with a few fiscally conservative positions, which is what he wants to morph the libertarian philosophy into.

Probably. Less error than the write in. Being on the ballot in most states, I think it's an easier way to show dissatisfaction with the two parties.

Yes. And anyone who is uncomfortable with Johnson (for socially conservative reasons), should look to Virgil Goode.

I don't think he has any particular fixed principles. his cost benefit approach to everything is to amenable to corporatism as are his views on NAFTA etc, amongst other things. As governor he COULD have taken stands on civil liberties but doesn't seem to have, his foreign policy is mushy where it isn't strictly by the polls, etc. And he seems to back down when pundits challenge him to a much larger extent than I am used to with Ron.

Ron personally likes him. Solid enough vote of confidence in my book. Plus, Johnson has admitted when he's been wrong on something (rare that he is wrong) and learns from the mistake.

And you know he can't be bought by the bankers, which is easily the largest problem facing this country.

Any person to break the banking cartel would be a serious win.

But let's be real, if it comes to that point, and you're going to bother casting a protest vote, might as well write in Ron Paul.

The LP is not going to suddenly rise up and grab the torch. The trust factor is just not there.

Johnson is an excellent candidate. Why the heck not vote for him? As long as Mittens does not get our votes. However, strategically speaking, if we are resolved that no RINO wins in 2012, it might be smarter for Ron Paul supporters to vote for Obama. Just don't answer any polls or exit polls.

No I will not vote for him. My vote goes to Ron Paul this time. In 2008 I voted for Chuck Baldwin only because Ron Paul endorsed him but did not feel good about it. This time it will be for Ron Paul even if Ron Paul endorses Johnson.

How if he's not on the ballot? A write in is not counted unless the candidate is an official write in candidate. I got to vote for Ron Paul in 2008 because he was one of the several approved write in candidates in California. But that was only the case in a few select states I believe.

I'd prefer to vote for someone who is actually running rather than write-in's (write-in's often don't even get counted since it's just extra trouble in counters minds.)

That's why I voted for Baldwin in 2008 rather than write in Paul.

Obviously, I won't vote for Virgil Goode so perhaps Johnson.

If/when Ron gets the GOP nomination, the support or lack there of by the libertarian party will not matter. That said I would fully expect them to jump on that bandwaggon. Why wouldn't they?
