Vice-presidential candidates?

a kucinich ticket would be powerful. i think it would be great to get two *responsible* politicians in office. but i dont agree with Kucinich on every issue. Ive also been thinking about Walter Williams, he would probably be a better choice issue wise however he doesnt hold the start power that Kucinich has, however with williams as VP it would get rid of the idea that the good doctor is racist. Gravel is viewed as wacky and wouldnt help us. Howbout Mark sanford? hes charismatic and brings alot to the ticket. Possibly Chuck Hagel or Tom Coburn wouldnt be bad either.

upon review, im not sure williams would be great for the campaign. I think we need a charismatic, young VP.

Dennis Kucinich is a nice guy, but like someone else said, he's socialist. In other words, he's a dedicated Marxist. Wrong for RP and wrobg for this country. We need to return to the Constitution.

If RP is assassinated (martyred?), I would not want Kucinich to take the reigns. I'd rather it were someone who were more ideologically aligned with RP. Given the situation I think it's important to consider that scenario.

I think what he needs to do is balance the ticket a bit.
With a folk superhero like Kucinich on our side the Paul victory would be so total that the aftershocks would topple the governments of Mexico, Canada and Cuba too.

Ralph Nader would be a good choice too.

Are you kidding me?

The point behind bringing in a Kucinich as VP (or more appropriately, to some post in a Paul administration) would be to elevate the HONEST people in that party. Send a new message to the beltway that says "bought and paid for politicians need not apply." Whether we like it or not, a Democrat will one day get back in the White House. Do we want that Dem to be another CFR hack puppet, or do we want to do what we can to position the truly independent people, so that next time THEY are the frontrunners with the most credibility?

The elite has fixed things to make it such that no matter which party wins, they get 'their' candidate in. Why don't we plan long term too, by electing a lot of Ron Paul friendly Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians etc., to office, so that they dominate future presidential elections, and we get 'our candidate' in no matter who wins?

These are great points. We need to eventually have independent people in both major parties. Also we need libertarian people to take over Congress so that socialist policies wouldn't fly, even if we had a president who leans toward socialism in some ways (like Kucinich).

We definitely need more Ron Pauls. But I'd rather have Dennis Kucinich as president than Billary some day in the future.

Like a couple posters mentioned, G. Edward Griffin would be a great VP too. He's very knowledgeable about history and how things really work. I think he's a genius. The founder of Freedom Force International (www.freedom-force.org) as Vice President of the United States. Nice. :)

I read somewhere that he was considering either John Stossel, or Walter E Williams as a VP running mate.

The Judge would be nice... and somewhat ironic. I was expecting to hear Steve Kubby's name to come up... *shrug* Gravel would be nice, he seems to be in the wrong political party for his views... Drew Carey would be interesting as well, but I doubt anyone would take the campaign seriously then....

Walter Williams all the way! They can go pound sand with their stupid rhetoric about RP being a racist and so many people of African decent will begin to uderstand real liberty when they start to listen to those two guys talking about it in no uncertain terms. That duo would turn this country around. And Williams is absolutly brilliant with regard to economic issues.

We need to save judge Andrew for SC

Pat Buchanan for some cabinet position. Maybe secretary of state

Michael Scheuer for something.

Stossel for spokeman/press secretary.

In fact, I wish to God that Ron Paul would announce right now his entire cabinet selection if elected. Get those guys all out campaiging for him together.

Lets break all molds.

As much as our economy is in trouble (there's more than one way to destroy a country...), I'm liking Walter Williams more and more and more. Plus, he understands liberty and he explains things in such a way that the average person can easily make sense of it. I love his stories! Had I had Williams for my econ professor, I'd have probably changed my major to economics.

I also like David Walker, head of the GAO. He's a little dry but he sure knows what he's talking about.

While I'd love to see Kucinich, just to give both sides of the aisle apoplexy (ooooh, the thought of that is delicious!), I can't go with the socialism. Even so, the guy is honest and principled and maybe a President Paul could give him a cabinet position.

At any rate, I'd love to see him choose an economic expert, announce it right now, tell everyone "it's the economy, stupid" and get on with it. Then let someone try to challenge that (as our wallets are being emptied daily). The other candidates are clueless.

I think if Kucinich is in the administration, I would put him in as Chief of Staff, since I disagree with him on most things. As a Chief of Staff, he could advise the administration, and tell the others what to do, without having any real power like a secretary has.

I wholeheartedly endorse this post above. I particularly agree with the "Let's break all molds." I have said it before and I will say it again. Is this a revolution or not? I would also consider the following players. Goldwater, Dobbs, Kucinich, Wesley Clark and Colin Powell.

Yeah, I thought of John Stossel for press sec the other night while reading his book "Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity." :D He'd be great!

JM

I think the VP need to bee thought about seriously, 8 Years as president of the united states is an physically demanding job. It is not entirely impossibly that he might not last 8 years. who ever he appoints as VP must be at least as libertarian as he.

PS If you change the constitution a bit I´m looking for a job.

personally i would ask Kucinic. i dont see eye to eye on every issue but i really trust him. he is on the right side of the fence when it comes to my issues (drug war, Iraq) and he seems anti-establishment. he would do a great job i believe. not to mention having a BI-PARTISAN run at the dems might just hurt em :)

Umm... NO! he's a Socialist, he will take your guns and your money.

I'd would like Griffin more than Baldwin, since Griffin knows his history and economics really really well.

If I might play the devil's advocate....Paul knows history and economics pretty well too. Wouldn't he be better served by hiring somebody who is proficient in areas that Paul is less well versed in?

(OK - I have trouble identifying which areas those might be..... :) )

I'm really confused about all the leftist people that are being suggested. Its beginning to puzzle me as to why the hell you support RPs policies if you are willing to have a full fledged socialist become VP(Kucinich). I mean no offense to the guy but he sucks.

The best person that was proposed of course is Walter Williams! Them running together would be the greatest since all economic decisions will be pretty damn good. It would also annihilate Obamas chances to attack RP on the "racism" charges if they were to go at it in the general election.

Any ideas yet? Oklahoma's Tom Coburn maybe? I think he's a bit nutty on social issues, but I'm not aware of anyone more fitting of the Dr. No VP spot then Coburn with US finances.

MN's Tim Pawlenty to bring in the Moderate and Neo-Conservative vote. Argh, just make sure Ron Paul has a bullet proof vest on all the time and keep Tim away from Dr. Paul's food/drink.
