Veterans’ groups STILL waiting for funds PROMISED by Trump from Fox debate fiasco

Donald Trump says he wanted to keep veterans fundraising 'quiet,' but he touted it instead

Trump certainly didn’t keep quiet about his intention to raise money for veterans causes when he was setting up his event in Iowa in January. To the contrary, he talked about it in media availabilities and tweeted about it on more than one occasion. His statement is ridiculous, so we rate it Pants on Fire.

Nope. It looks more like the media reporting on this pressured him to follow through. I guess that's why he wants to butcher the First Amendment. Good on the media, shame on Trump.

That story says 12!! 12 groups received funds dated may 24th. We know from the original post in this thread that 22 groups received funds between february and march.

Isn't it more likely it takes time to collect the donated funds and vet the groups to receive the donations?

He did what he said he would do. Now do the investigating on what happened to the 9/11 funds, the Katrina money, the tsunami money, and all the money liberals raise.

The OP is clearly barking up the wrong tree.

It's great that he raised all that money for veterans. The issue was that he said a couple months ago that all the money had been given out when it hadn't. Much of it wasn't paid until the issue was raised.

The Associated Press spoke or left messages with each of the organizations Trump named. Of the 30 groups that responded by Tuesday, about half said they had received checks from Trump just last week.

Among them was the big check from Trump himself, written to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation. Trump's campaign had previously told the newspaper that his promised $1 million personal donation had already been distributed.

Though the foundation had received a $100,000 check from Trump's charity in March, last week's $1 million donation came as something of a surprise.

"It is obviously a wonderful donation," said Sue Boulhosa, the group's executive director and sole employee. She said the group had "an inkling" that more might come but the amount was a happy surprise.

Trump has a longstanding relationship with the group, which Boulhosa said typically raises a total of between $2 million and $3 million a year. The foundation had presented Trump with an award at its 2015 gala held at a New York hotel.

The public presentations trickled off within days, though some of the groups contacted by AP did report receiving checks in February, March and April.

But the biggest batch appeared to have gone out May 24, with several of the groups saying they had no contact with the Trump organization before that.

LOL at "disgusting press". They have been good to Trump for years, and continue to be:

If it's important to have MSM slanted articles on a subject why not cut-n-paste right and left slants?

I don't know what partisan this is so I'll let you fill in the partisan bias.

Phone calls to all 41 of the groups by The Associated Press brought more than two-dozen responses Tuesday. About half reported checks from Trump were given within the past week, typically dated May 24, the day The Washington Post published a story questioning whether he had distributed all of the money.

As I indicated. That is only 12 groups. Instead of saying 12 out of 41 groups, obscure language is used to further frame a negative implication.

I'm pretty sure not paying 25%+ of groups until you're called on it is a negative implication in and of itself. But, that's just me...<shrug>.

Prove it, CPU. Show links to actual data.

From the link:

We told the tale of this gift in our article Sunday:

This January, the phone rang at a tiny charity in White River Junction, Vt., called Friends of Veterans. This was just after Trump had held a televised fundraiser for veterans in Iowa, raising more than $5 million.

The man on the phone was a Trump staffer who was selecting charities that would receive the newly raised money. He said the Vermont group was already on Trump’s list, because the Trump Foundation had given it $1,000 in 2013 “I don’t remember a donation from the Trump Foundation,” said Larry Daigle, the group’s president, who was a helicopter gunner with the Army during the Vietnam War. “The guy seemed pretty surprised about this.”

The man went away from the phone. He came back.

Was Daigle sure? He was.

The man thanked him. He hung up. Daigle waited — hopes raised — for the Trump people to call back.

“Oh, my God, do you know how many homeless veterans I could help?” Daigle told The Post this spring, while he was waiting.

Trump gave away the rest of the veterans money in late May.

Daigle’s group received none of it.

Trump's campaign did not respond to a request for an explanation of this gift.

You trying to get us to subscribe to washington post now? Did you actually read the story or are you just re-tweeting a never trump neocon? Here let me help you.

The TLDR of this "story" is they are comparing official IRS tax records from the Trump foundation, to the memory recollections of the first people they contacted at these charities for donations from up to 8 years ago

You trying to get us to get an account at archive.is now? This is not a "one-off" story- if you bothered to look at it in context, it is part of a series, based on months of background work. But way to minimize it. You could probably get a job defending Trump on CNN.
