I am a homeschool mom of 5 who has been following Ron Paul for about 4 years now.
You can google 'Amy Hedtke Ron Paul' and see my posts elsewhere on Facebook... staunch RP supporter here. My son got his pocket constitution autographed by RP back when he was campaigning in Denton TX [my son read the Declaration of Independence at the event] and Debra Medina at a local Dallas-area event. I even printed out RP flyers and quietly posted them all over the Obama Dallas campaign rally: bathrooms, backs of doors, on the walls, ANYWHERE, lol. My husband has been on unemployment since July 2008 and just recently got a contract job that we're hoping becomes fulltime. I would LOVE to take my older guys to CPAC --shoot, I'd take all 5 kids if i could and turn it into the learning experience of a lifetime!
but even if it's just me, I'd be honored to have y'all's help in attending. thanks for offering!
I've been pretty busy trying to watchdog our local politicians, so I haven't joined the RP forums till I saw Michael's facebook about looking for serious RP supporters.
so far I have about 4 different goals depending on how much we can raise:
1. Getting ME to CPAC. I can drive up and stay in an inexpensive hotel and eat cheap.
2. Getting me and Steve to CPAC. same gas, similar hotel expenses, extra mouth, extra ticket.
3. Me, Steve, and my 16yo son--
4. All seven of us! we'd need a suite. more to eat....
Ideally I'd LOVE to bring the whole family.
DFW -> DC= 1,358 miles.
van @ 20 mpg = 68 gallons gas. x $4/g =$272 x 2 [RT] =$544 fuel.
suite: $150/night x 4 nights = $600
continental b'fast.
meals = $10 well-planned can feed all 7 for one meal.
2x/day x 4 days = $80
tickets: 2 adults, 5 kids
if we can get $1300 from supporters, we can handle the rest i think.....
any funds not used for the trip [i.e. we don't get enough monetary support to cover it or more than enough for just a couple of us] will be donated to another last minute/closer chip in candidate for Ron Paul on the forums. if we don't have enough to go by Monday morning before the convention starts we'll sit it out this year and look forward to next.
we do lots of ongoing citizenship projects with our 4-H club....
