I agree completely. Hell is a repulsive and vile teaching and any god that designed such a torture chamber I would not and could not under good conscience support such a god.

Yeah, well, worry about it when they show you the passage in the Bible that talks about it.

They're all confusing Dante's Inferno with the word of God. Don't worry about it. Can we let this troll thread die now? Or do we keep chasing people away with it? Just curious.

This is what I find repulsive about Christianity in particular is this idea that if you don't give yourself to this 'God' then you shall forever be damned and rot in hell. I.E. Instead of using reason, logic, and persuasion you yield to threats and punishment. It's not appealing whatsoever especially when I as a Deist live a life that is more moral than a vast majority of Christians, but just because they say they have faith just so they don't rot in hell or whatever. They may even believe that lie so much they think it truth. I don't care what you believe to be honest. I care how a person acts. If your God is so childish to care more about people worshiping him than the way they live and act, I want no part. (Further also because Natural Law is immutable)

I respect and like you also, and in this area we will just have to disagree amiably.

I know you find it repulsive my friend. And this is one way that in your heart of hearts you know its true. The knowledge that God is going to bring you to account is something you already know, and suppress at every turn:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

God is, right now, making it "evident" to you that He will call you to account to the standard of His perfect righteousness. You know it is true, and that is why it disgusts you and you try to suppress this knowledge.


You keep saying you "live a moral life" and these things. Did you read what I said in my earlier post? Living a moral life is not salvific. The way you live does not save. The standard is absolute moral perfection. Have you lived up to that standard?


No. You haven't. And neither have any of us. That is why that your "moral life" will count as nothing toward salvation. The Scripture says:

Isaiah 64:6 NASB

For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

It's not our unrighteous deeds that are an offense in God's sight, it is our RIGHTEOUS deeds that are an offense in His sight! Our works count for nothing. The only works that God will accept is the perfect work of Jesus Christ. Period. That's it.


If you stand before God and plead your "moral life", you will be separated from Him forever in punishment. Hell is real. Your moral life does not cancel out the sin that is on your account.


Our righteousness is worthless. But there is only one righteousness that I will plead when I stand before God:

Romans 3:21-22 NLT

But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

Believe me, Jesus talked more about Hell than Heaven. Most people don't know this because they rarely read the Scriptures. Jesus said:

Matthew 5:48 NASB

Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

In the judgement day, are you going to seriously plead that you were perfect as God Himself is perfect? You never broke the law in even the slightest detail?

Why would you destroy your own soul by trying to attain salvation through your works? Why don't you go to Jesus who gives salvation freely to all those who believe in Him?

Because there are two groups in that, in the end. And neither of those groups is labeled, 'People who have kissed My Ass.' Even Muslims and Buddhists can feed the hungry, slake thirst, clothe the naked, visit the sick and incarcerated. Hell, even atheists can do it.

No one can enter the Kingdom except through Me, said the one they called Teacher. And what, pray tell, did the one they call Teacher teach? You get a loophole exemption if you kiss My Ass? No...

The righteousness of the Pharisee is not righteousness at all. More 'Law' is just more 'Law'. But if you're heart's in the right place, you'll be there for those who need you, and think nothing more about it. And then, and only then, you'll be on His right hand.

True Christianity is the most powerful prophylaxis against slavery and its master, evil, that mortal man has access to. It is, in believers the ultimate triumph over material tyranny. You cannot kill the essential me. You can kill the vessel. If I cannot be killed should I live on bent knee and in fear? Does Dr. Paul? He moves amongst evil men with grace and dignity, unharmed. You are aware of the machinations of the PTB through the ages. Do you think they have perhaps focused on certain phrases wrongly and then emphasized false teachings to make their power of enslavement for the cults of death more efficient? Like when you are struck, turn the other cheek. In martial arts this is what you do to diminish the power of the blow or have it miss you entirely. The street lingo is roll with the punch. Yet the teaching has wrongly been instructed to the denominations, of which I belong to none, to get smacked and then offer the other cheek to get smacked when that is NOT the teaching. I don't know...no offense but that all sounds like a load of bull. If Jesus was talking about martial arts moves why would he follow up with "if someone wants your coat give it to him, if someone asks you to walk 1 mile, walk two," etc etc? Also Jesus exhorted Peter to put away his sword because "he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword." Also Jesus laid down, let himself get caught, and then let himself be humiliated and crucified. Many of his followers did the same thing. Christians were taught not to fight back, they were following the example of their leader. You seem to be reading into the text what you want when the the plain read of the text and common sense and are saying opposite of what you are stating.

You mention William Wallace, but he was a Catholic! Unless you have proof that Wallace was part of the same mystical warrior sect that you seem to be part of, Wallace was part of "authoritarian Xianity." Lots of men throughout time have fought for freedom like William Wallace, and like Wallace many of them have been Christian. However in my mind they lash out and fight tyranny in direct contradiction to Christian teachings considering Paul's teachings on government power in Romans and Jesus' words to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's."
