I recently became a father...
However, I'm kind of disappointed in myself because after everything I have learned about the dangers of vaccines I didn't question the shots they gave my son when he was first born..
With all the commotion going on I didn't even think about questioning it.
On Monday, my wife and I brought him to the doctor's for his 2 month checkup..
We were aware he would be receiving the Hepatitis B vaccine. I already decided he would have to get that one since it's required for school and I'm not able to home school nor is anyone in my family.
BUT - we didn't know he would also be getting 3 other vaccines until we got there and they pulled them out.
During this time, for some reason my thoughts started to scatter and I just didn't know what to say. He got the vaccines. It made me feel horrible seeing and hearing him get them because he screamed his head off.
My thoughts on this are split. I know nothing about medicine other than "eat right and exercise" so you don't have to get vaccines and stuff. But this was dealing with a BABY. I mean, I got the shots when I was a baby and a kid and I'm "fine". Or am I?
I feel like I should leave the medical stuff up to the doctors because I feel like if I don't let him get the vaccines he will get sick and my wife will blame me. But, I also feel like I should NOT let him get the vaccines because if he DOES he WILL get sick or "messed up".
He goes back for a 4 month checkup in December. I'd really appreciate it if you guys can help me in the right direction with your own opinions..
BTW, the baby is exclusively breastfed. It did not occur to me to challenge the vaccinations with this fact until after we left.
He got 1 oral (rotavirus vaccine), and two other vaccines in shot form (not including the Hep. B shot). The papers say "Pneumococcal conjugate" and "Haemophilus Influenzae Type B".
I am really disappointed in myself for letting this happen to my son.
Especially after I just researched the Rotavirus vaccine. I can't believe I allowed that to enter my son's body.
