US Senate apologizes for slavery

Oh, I thought I was going to be apologized to...

Nope -- Coloreds only.

well...how many times are we going to have to apologize for that? nobody will be satisfied until they get reparations and that won't be enough either...it's the entitlement crowd. The folks who did it are graveyard dead for years. tones

Apologizing For Slavery?

Who said slavery has been done away with? The Emancipation Proclamation didn't get rid of the plantation; it expanded the plantation, thanks to the federal government. Now Americans have to ask the government for permission to do everything, from cutting down a tree in their own yard to starting a business with their own money.

The states are enslaved to the federal government, too. They can't even secede without an administration threatening to send in "taskmasters" to stop them. States no longer elect their own representatives (Senate), but now they must relegate that duty to the federal masters.

Those Senators are apologizing for an institution which has led to the very chains they wear today in the seats of Congress, locked up by arbitrary powers from the executive branch. Just because the whips are gone doesn't mean our Senators aren't picking cotton for the global elite to enslave the masses by over-regulation, over-taxation, over-spending, and over-stepping of constitutional boundaries.

They make me sick right now, brown-nosing on a guilt trip towards those who perpetuate the same atrocities which they blame others for without reason.

They should apologize to me too, for helping Russia keep half of Europe. And give me some paychecks and citizenship in the process.

wow...once in a while, you really nail it. :) Nice job.

Rather than apologizing for past slavery, why don't they end slavery in the present?

They can't do that!! If Congress got rid of modern day slavery, they would have no one to mow their lawns, wash their cars, serve as nannies to their over-privileged kids.... well, you get the idea.

"Sorry about that slavery thing. Our bad. But don't worry, we're making sure that the new, updated, Slavery ver. 2.1 will be equal opportunity." - Uncle Sucker

Well if they are going to do this. Does this mean they will be apologizing to my ancestry? I mean they did, damn near commit genocide on the American Indians.

But on a serious note. WTF!

Slavery was abolished after the civil war! The 13th amendment keeps it from happening again! There is their apology!

And are they going to ask the African tribes that rounded up the people and sold them to the shipping merchants that transported them here to be sold as slaves, for an apology?

Are they going to ask the German, English, Swedish, French, maritime merchants to apologize for buying and selling them?

Are they going to ask the English courts (in America at the time 1692) to apologize for starting slavery?

The point, we (the common people) did not start, or participate in slavery. It was the rich aristocrats that started it, and continued it after 1776. An it was the average Joe (us) that ended it with blood!

In conclusion, its not my fault! Yes I'm sorry your ancestors where treated like shit, now get over it! You are in the greatest country in the world because of it.
