Without defending that soldier's behavior at all I want to make the point that as a society we can't expect humans to go through military training and then spend years in the desert following orders to kill other humans while at the same time trying to avoid being killed and then have balanced and compassionate world views. If you put humans in monstrous situations, tell them to do monstrous things, you can't then turn around and expect them not to sometimes be monsters for no reason when they come home or in this case come across an cute innocent puppy.

Someone on LewRockwell's blog today made the astute point that it is sad that it is this video that is getting everyone so worked up. Despicable as it is, what does it say about us that we get more outraged about this than we do about all the innocent Iraqi children that have been murdered during this occupation.?

Exactly. I have never served but I imagine the only way someone would be able to survive mentally is to became "calloused" or numb to death since you would be seeing death and dealing with death on a daily basis.

To me, the question of what has become of that soldier's humanity and why is even sadder than the puppy's death in this video.

Great point! This reminds me of the football player that was caught fighting dogs. Everyone got all worked up over that but no one seems to care that more than a hand full of pro football players have been caught up in homicides and killings. We do live in a fucked up world where people condemn animal cruelty over human cruelty.

yea yelping was definitly fake. The volume doesn't decrease as the dog gets further away.
