URGENT! We must kill the "Pacifist" meme

Congress doesn't declare war very often. Sometimes it becomes necessary to fight to preserve liberty. At those times it is crucial that we be able to do so successfully, and with enough swiftness and certainty to deter others that would follow the path of the enemy, and in order to get the country back to a peacetime footing and prevent the country from becoming war weary.

I think most of the real people -- not the people with something to gain -- concerns about Paul surround the idea that he won't defend the country, that if we are attacked, he won't respond, that he'll make the country more vulnerable.

The way to counteract that is two-fold -- what I just said above, and emphasizing that our military will still defend the country's borders from home, in fact defend it better that we are now because we're spread so thin. Iran doesn't have an ICBM. Iran's not a threat to us if we're not there.

You're using logic and reason. The people you want to reach don't see it that way.

The "pacifists" headed to Canada during the Vietnam war. Ron Paul suited up and spent five years in hostile regions all over the world. I'm sure he was taught all the basics of combat, survival skills and self-defense. He's a champion of the second amendment and admits to owning many firearms. Look at his governing philosophy. He believes in strength and survival. He believes we can only preserve our economy with a "strong" dollar. He believes we should protect our Bill of Rights at all costs, even if it means jeopardizing our safety to insure our liberty. To Ron Paul, life and liberty are synonymous. Had he faced a "kill or be killed" situation during the war, his temperament persuades us to conclude that he would have aggressively defended his life. Look at the risk he invites by publicly exposing and challenging the most powerful and corrupt interests in this nation. He is no coward and he is no pacifist. He is as much deserving a Medal of Honor as any warrior that ever served his country.

Hrm...interesting. How about equating draft dodging with those pacifists during Vietnam?

I served. I've been on that AFghanistan/Pakistan border so many of our current soldiers know and believe it's nothing like a drive on the French countryside knocking on doors. I guess I could have married a high school teacher when I was 19 and gotten out of it that way, but instead I married my wife Carol when I was 21, and I haven't regretted that decision once in the first of next month it'll be 55 years.

So while the pacifists were finding ways to get out of service in the 60s, I served, I'm proud of having done so, and apparently the current military members in unform appreciate my service as a Congressman because they donate more to me than the other candidates combined.

That is a good point fellas. The only veteran in the race for president is successfully labeled as a "Pacifist" by media shills. Amazing. The draft dodgers are the warmongers. Amazing.

I am so tired of our own hit pieces being posted in the grassroot forum when are we going to stop being our own worst enemy?

What is your thought on how to combat the talk show propaganda? Truckers are a captive audience and a huge number of conservative voters.
Thats a BIG question - I think if I knew the answer to that Ron Paul would have won in '08. Other than direct competition via low power FM/AM networks of streaming counter programming - I don't hold much of a solution.

AT this point in time it looks as if conservative radio has them routing for Gingrich --- I think exposing his record via a DVD attack would do some good. All Truckers have DVD players and/or computers in their trucks.

Thinks to self...Why haven't I bought that multi-DVD burner?

In all reality there is NO easy solution. But elbow grease and attitude can sure go along way. Going to ebay, be back later.:)

This thread is just proof positive of the problem. Numerous posters have said "Ron won't kill", "he is peaceful", etc. The way you are framing it, then he has no chance at being POTUS. And if the way you are saying it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth, then I don't want him to be POTUS. As POTUS you HAVE to be ready to defend the country. He can be peaceful, loving, and diplomatic. But if the country is attacked and threatened he has to be willing to fight. He has to use force. He has to be willing to kill. If he isn't, then I don't want him to be POTUS. And I am pretty darn libertarian.

The public knows Ron wants to pull back troops and end the current wars. That is well known. The public does not know what Ron will do if the country is threatened and attacked. Hence the pacifist/isolationist meme. He needs to focus on education the public on what they do not know, and that is what Ron will do in the face of an attack. If he can't say he will defend the nation with force, then we may as well pack up the bags now.

Ron says that all the time when he gets 30 seconds in debates, on the floor of the House, in his writings, and on video. A primary duty of the Federal government is to defend the nation. Ron Paul is the "Champion of the Constitution"
Article I Section 8
To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
The media liars who are on the airwaves 24/7 have more influence than the truth. Repetition works.

There is a distinction between the terms pacifist, non-interventionist, and isolationist.

Many people use those terms interchangeably. Ron is really a non-interventionist. Pacifists will never fight back, and isolationists will never deal with the outside world.

The difference is there, but most people won't recognize it.

Yeah, we'll all be even poorer because Ron Paul would steal even more money to go kill people around the world! What could possibly go wrong!

What a terrible message for someone leading a movement to restore the primacy of the individual.

I've seen several of your posts and you are probably the most defeatist poster on this board. Look my friend, you are free to live in your little delusional world where everyone can sit around a campfire and get along, but the rest of us live in reality, there are bad people in the world, the US has done much harm, but we are by no means responsible for every evil in the world, sometimes you have to fight, and there is nothing wrong with letting the public know you will fight if you have to.

Hijack the meme.

Make comics of Ron Paul being a baddass by not fighting back, usually foes defeating themselves by their own stupidity.

Osama Bin Laden said his goal was to bankrupt America. Between our wars around the world and our security apparatus at home, we've been playing right into his hand. With any of the other candidates, the terrorists win because all the other candidates support endless wars around the world, the militarization of our police forces, and the TSA.

Yesterday I overheard someone saying that if it weren't for these wars, they would probably be unemployed because their company makes (some sort of) military parts....

Another thought -- when folks use the term pacifist to describe someone, many times they are thinking the guy is basically a coward. Viewing Ron Paul as a coward needs to be turned on its head.

Ron Paul is not a coward, and as a steadfast supporter of the US Constitution for decades, there are numerous examples why. He speaks direct truth to power right on the mainstream media and in the congressional record, putting him and his family in literal danger of assassination every day. He stands, often alone, for the principles that made this country great.

Ron Paul is no coward. In fact he's one of the bravest people I've ever seen.

Judicious and proper constitutional use of force is a sign of strength, not weakness.

To me, a Pacifist is a baddass in Super Smash Bros. who can beat foes without hitting them.

We should turn it around and use that to promote Paul!

This morning at a trucker round table Ron Paul was unanimously labeled a "pacifist". I have had lots of round table discussions with truckers --- but this pacifist thing has gotten out of hand. Most all truckers tend to lean conservative but the problem is they get ALL of their info from Sean Hannity, Levin, Medved and Limbaugh. It appears that "conservative talk radio" has been trying to create a pacifist meme -- I believe they have succeeded. ***It must be squashed***.

I think Ron needs to make some bold statements in support of violence -- really, I'm not kidding.:cool: --- But from a historical perspective.

...

Are these Truckers Christians or atheists? I'd ask them was Jesus a Violencist or Pacifist?

That said, more useful term is non-interventionist and anti-gropist, from another thread:

What is violencists plan to protect Americans' daughters, wives, girl friends, sons from these enhanced checks at train stations, shopping malls, sports stadiums, movies, steak houses etc?

Trucker: Ron Paul is a pacifist.
Me: Haha good one.
Trucker: No, seriously.
Me: Ron Paul spends half his day talking about defending our borders here at home... you think he wants to do that with flowers? No try tanks and M-16s LOL you crack me up... you can't believe everything you hear on TV.

Trucker: Ron Paul is a pacifist.
Me: No, actually Gingrich and Romney are the pacifists because they follow the USSR strategy. Those two want to keep fighting until we're so broke we have no military left because it was all spent in Afghanistan... making them basically pacifists since we don't get a military any more with either one of them.
Me: Ron Paul follows the conservative approach to handling wars. When there are no countries to fight you save up your money and you build up your border for the next conflict that comes up. Ron Paul is the only war veteran in the race.

Or it could just go like this:
Trucker: Ron Paul is a pacifist.
Me: Ron Paul is the only war veteran in the line-up. Mitt & Gingrich dodged the draft LOL.
