Congress doesn't declare war very often. Sometimes it becomes necessary to fight to preserve liberty. At those times it is crucial that we be able to do so successfully, and with enough swiftness and certainty to deter others that would follow the path of the enemy, and in order to get the country back to a peacetime footing and prevent the country from becoming war weary.
I think most of the real people -- not the people with something to gain -- concerns about Paul surround the idea that he won't defend the country, that if we are attacked, he won't respond, that he'll make the country more vulnerable.
The way to counteract that is two-fold -- what I just said above, and emphasizing that our military will still defend the country's borders from home, in fact defend it better that we are now because we're spread so thin. Iran doesn't have an ICBM. Iran's not a threat to us if we're not there.
You're using logic and reason. The people you want to reach don't see it that way.
