I have a lot going on right now so I am back and forth to the pc. I am setting up Skype to discuss with John Darash and some others how we can coordinate quickly.

The best place for all information on becoming a committeeman will be from John Darash's website - http://newyorkcommitteemen.org/conference/default.html

Here is a rough sequence on how to petition to become a committe person in New York state.

- We will need to download the official petition signature sheet that the New York Board of Elections issues.

- The most important part will be following his videos and example petitition sheet on how to fill it out perfectly. And we mean perfectly. A mistake is how the BOE disqualifies them.

- The best thing is to have more than one person and chip in to get copies of the current committee people in your town that are from the last 2 years petition.

- The BOE of your county should have pdf town maps for download on their website. These maps will show the districts in your town.

- From here you cross reference to see what districts already have committee people in all the districts, or some of the districts.

- If there is a empty district, choose that one to petition in. If they are all filled, still choose one. If two or more people petitition in the same district, then in the primaries you will actually be on ballot for elections. The person who gets the most votes will then be the committeeman in that district.

- Also get some other folks to chip in and purchase the cd/dvd of the registered Republican voters in your county. You can only get signatures from registered Republicans and this is how you find where they live in the districts.

- You need signatures of 5% of the registered Republicans in that district. Get more than 5%, get at least 10%. In my district that came out to 8 signatures, so I got 15.

Anyone that wants to learn please PM me. I will start figuring a plan of attack how we can teach people to petition properly. This will happen over the next week.

This is just bad timing. My effort needs to be on this convention Friday not this new dilemma we have going now.

PM me anyone if you can help.

I just spoke with John Darash.

He is willing to come down to wherever to give the presentation. He will aslo setup a Internet learning session on PalTalk.

Looks like something will be put together.

Correction on the above post. He has the "Walking List", which is the database for all registered Republicans.

He is looking for someone who can setup an online database where someone can type in their address and the walking list will pop up for your district.

1) the number of signatures needed is 5% of reg Republicans
2) you do not have to run in your precinct, just the same state assembly district

There is a LOT of work to be done in NYS...

A few groups in my circles are doing the petition drive and combining it with a registration drive. It is a very good reason to walk ones precinct and introduce yourself as a concerned neighbor. By wearing a RP button, but not overtly stumping for Paul, people can set the stage for the next phase and start building a list of supporters who self ID seeing your button...

Big time work. It is very discouraging to see folks from 08', in my area, who just haven't stepped up to the plate over these last few years. That is what is bad.

There is a leadership/cohesion issue that is state wide. The C4L was supposed to have been the glue to grow the precinct level involvement and hence, result in votes for '12. Either there is going to have to be new coordinators at the county/regional/state level in the C4L or a statewide grassroots Liberty organization that specializes in Republican party involvement (committeeman/party/Roberts rules) will need to be formed.

The local college RP'ers, seem to be Internet activists. They just are not getting involved. We will see what happens over the next few months before petitioning.

The 11th hour "bandwagoners" effort will be minimal.

tony m is there anything effective people who can't get on the ground in NY could do in support of your efforts?

Update 3-21-12

I have contacted some NY senate offices.

Their responses are that the senate has not voted yet on a primary date for the state political calender.

However, three months were mentioned for the state/local ... primary to be held in - June, August, and the usual September.

I personally am not petitioning for committeeman starting today, March 21 (moved up from March 29). March 21 is the official political calender for the federal primary that is already taking place in June.

So, we can only wait.

Please pass on the information that there is a possibility of a move up for petitioning for committee-person in New York State. Thank you.

Good question.

Obviously my frustration has pushed me negative, which is not my normal state.

Phone from Home? I just don't know.

Maybe join the meetup groups and YAL facebooks, and contacted these organizers in the Buffalo/Rochester vicinities, and try to motivate them? This just doesn't sound right to have to do.
