URGENT: New York State committee-person petitioning - possible 2 month date move up

Update 3-21-12

I have contacted some NY senate offices.

Their responses are that the senate has not voted yet on a primary date for the state political calender.

However, three months were mentioned for the state/local ... primary to be held in - June, August, and the usual September.

***

I personally am not petitioning for committeeman starting today, March 21 (moved up from March 29). March 21 is the official political calender for the federal primary that is already taking place in June.

So, we can only wait.

Please pass on the information that there is a possibility of a move up for petitioning for committee-person in New York State. Thank you.

URGENT:
Petitioning for committee-person has been moved up over two months and starts on March 29, 2012. That is 16 days from today. This is inside scoop. We believe that this is being done to stop Ron Paul people from becoming committee people.

This is it. Either New York RP people are going to step up to the plate or they are not.

This Assembly bill is supposed to be passed this week and then announced via media.

There has been no Political Calender for 2012 released by the Board of Elections.

I contacted the BOE in Erie county and talked to Maureen Maloney and it was denied that committeeman petitions start on the 29th.

Something big is going on. Really big.

Can someone explain this to me, I don't understand what's going on.

If the Precinct Committeeman position in New York is similar to Precinct Committeeman positions in other states, than PCs in New York make up the voting members of a County GOP.

It is the PCs who get to elect their County GOP Chairman, Vice Chairman, State Committeeman, etc. If enough of our supporters within a county become PCs, then we can elect a County GOP Chairman who supports Ron Paul.

In New York, to become a PC, you have to file as a candidate and your name will appear on the primary ballot if it is a contested election. If no one else files as a PC in your precinct, then you win by default (which happens A LOT because not many people file as candidates). If you win the election, then you become a PC and a voting member within your County GOP.

The Assembly has decide to move the dates up for this year - only. It will resort to its usual date in June next year. The question is, why are they doing this? What really is odd is, the Assembly is Democrat controlled, not Republican. This is wild stuff going on.

Can this really be something to counter Ron Paul influence? If so, what it does is force us to now put the time in to petition for committeeman instead of canvassing for votes for Ron Paul.

We now only have two weeks to notify and teach newbies how to petition, and it has to be perfect on paper. And we now only have 20 days or so instead of 6 weeks to do the petitions.

And, this isn''t event official yet. Meaning, when it does, and the word is, it should be this week - we don't have much time.

This is very important information that must get to all New yorkers. Please, if you know anyone in New York state and you can talk them into being a committeeman, now is the time. This really is the time.

John Darash is a Ron Paul guy who runs the committeman site linked in OP. He just went through a lawsuit concerning the committeeman debacle of two years ago. So if there is anyone I would believe, it will be John.

I am not sure I understand this.

So we do not have enough committee men?

There are committee men needed for each county?

We do not have enough?

Do we know how many we need for each county?

Every county has many committeeman positions and they are up for election every two years. We do not have enough people running for these positions and it will be too difficult to find out exactly how many we need for each county so its best to just plan to run for the position. It is a completely voluntary position and if you feel like you dont have the time, you don't have to do anything or worse comes to worse, you can resign from the position. The point is to get as many supporters as we can to RUN for the position first and see who wins.

All across the state we do not have practically any Ron Paul people as committeeman and woman. And the pickings is so easy.

In my town there are 110 districts that have 2 committee people per district. There are only 40 districts filled. The rest are empty! And the Ron Paul people do not seem interested.

Seriously, we have 5 ron paul groups in the Buffalo area (Erie County) and these people are basically internet activists.

We are going to reach out to them. But in one group, they are absolutely ignoring the post about this. It is just crazy.

We are being screwed by the establishment with the move and our RP folks aren't showing any spark whatsoever.

We are also trying to work state committee-people (which are probably all non-RP'ers) so we can get into some at-large delegate spots this Friday at one of the state conventions.

Jeff is the only one from the following groups that is a committeeman.

There was another thread on RPF about the committeeman lawsuit, etc. which I posted on. I found the info while I was looking to see if I could be a delegate but according to a Syracuse area paper, all the campaigns filed delegate slates for NY weeks ago.

Do you think that the internet supporters you spoke of actually understand what this position entails (both in the sense time commitment and in the sense of resources for liberty gained? ) I feel like even among the more politically savvy there's often a dearth of understanding when it comes to how things actually work when it comes to nuts and bolts like positions and how to apply for them.

(also I've been trying to spread this around so hopefully the additional exposure will create some response).
Quick question, I believe the answer is "yes" but can you hold one of these positions in NY if you are also on the delegate slate for a presidential candidate?

The lawsuit would be John Darash.

The slate of delegates is already validated.

However, there are at-large delegates that will be elected by the state committee at the May 24 convention. However, I do not know yet if it is 35 or 10 delegates.

Again, though, its a cluster-f right now in New York state. I believe bad stuff is going to go down.

The redistricting will be finalized this Thursday. Which means, are they going to pull some crap? Because our slate was established on the old 29 districts. I just read the new rules and it has everything according to the new 27 redrawn districts.

I will find out next Monday. I can't call the Repub state attorney again this week. I have to lay low for the convention this Friday. The state committee is electing the candidate to run for U.S. Senate against Gillibrand the Democrat. We are going to the convention to smooze with the state committee folks and try and build rapports to influence at-large delegate selection.

This week is turning out to be volcanic.

Yes, you can hold both positions. No problem there. The problem is getting people to get involved in the political process like we were taught from the beginning of the C4L.

Check out this post I put on the Daily Paul this morning to give an idea what some of us are up against with our own RP people. It is brutal - http://www.dailypaul.com/220469/demonized-for-understanding-and-implementing-the-delegate-strategy

That being the case I'm going to see what I can do to provide you more support, I don't know many folks in NY but I'm sure they know some people too ;) maybe it'll help :)

Im in long island new York, I don't know anything about politics, however I am a delegate for Ron Paul and will be going to Tampa if Ron wins my district, with that being said I'm willing to help if someone explains what I have to do like I'm 3 years old. I sure ican get the grassroots of long island to help as well!! Many of Ron's long island delegates belong to this group
