This is from whitehouse.gov, so its from the horse's mouth. And if you read this: http://www.ustreas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/legal/statutes/ieepa.pdf ... the law referred to repeatedly by this executive order, the President now had EXTRA CONSTITUTIONAL POWERS to regulate and restrict foreign trade much as King George did under mercantilism!

Shouting this to some people on my friends list. This NEEDS to go frontpage

WHOA.

So um - Technically, by the way this new law/order is written,
anyone who transfers/donates money to a person who threatens to undermine the war in Iraq or the reconstruction of Iraq is guilty under the provisions listed.

WhOA....that's US. You. Me. Ron Paul.

Furthermore -
anyone who has committed or POSES A RISK to commit (not guilty yet, just ...maybe...might do it...thinking about it...) violence in opposition to the economic stability / reconstruction efforts / war in Iraq.....are guilty.

Guilty meaning that "All your property belongs to us, signed - FedGov."

This has the appearance of targeting insurgents - but they would have to set foot on American soil FIRST.
Unlikely.

This can be used against any person in America - citizen or not.

This is authorized - in part - through the IEEP - a federal law regarding emergencies.
heres a tidbit -

"The IEEPA authorizes the president to declare the existence of an "unusual and extraordinary threat... to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States" that originates "in whole or substantial part outside the United States." It further authorizes the president, after such a declaration, to block transactions and freeze assets to deal with the threat."

Sounds like Venezuela!! They are technically threatening our economy - in the eyes of Bush, I'm sure.
This could be used for that. Anyone who travels to a foreign state/country while they are on this 'list' during a very broad emergency, or spends money in that country, buys something, etc etc - is found guilty.

Example -
Traveling to Iraq prior to the invasion.
You would be guilty.

This order was issued in July of 2007.

Please someone fluent in legalese translate it for me.

You no like the war in Iraq??? Don't get in they way in any way, shape or form!
If you do, we think you are a problem...
We take your stuff...

This is an executive order - got a problem with it? Take it all the way to the Supreme Court and hope they'll take your case, because it's the only way to overturn it.

I hate to say it, but my Libertarian colleague is right - by 2012, there is going to be civil unrest in this country, non-violent or not. And you watch how quickly Posse Comitatus gets tossed out of the window.

Just think, if every Ron Paul supporter, Libertarian, and Constitution Party member had a firearm, knew how to use it, and was willing to give his/her life for liberty....that's a big militia!!

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America

Hmmm...thought it was just a **bleep** piece of paper.

"Oh hell! As long as I include this little jingle about the Constitution, the sheeple will buy anything I say? wellllll, in that case....."

Thoughtcrimes :(

Me thinks that Mr. Bush needs to change his name from G.W. Bush to E.O. Bush. Does the legislative branch even pass laws anymore? It sure seems like everything is done by Executive Order now.
