After much consideration, I have told my family that I do not intend to be a candidate for United States Senate in 2014. While I had the support of my wife and young children if I wanted to enter the race, I believe the time away from home required for Dad to run a statewide campaign is simply not the best thing for my family at this time.

I’m humbled by the encouragement I’ve received and want to sincerely thank everyone for the kind words of support. Just moments ago at our Iowa GOP State Central Committee meeting in Des Moines I shared this news with our Board of Directors.

Rest assured I’m not going away and I will continue to share news and my perspective on the issues of the day. For now I will remain in my role as Co-Chairman of the Iowa GOP and I will continue to explore new opportunities to share my commitment to spreading the message of Freedom and genuine prosperity. Stay tuned…

There is Ivers who in my mind may have a better chance to win the primary than Fischer.

GOP candidates:
Sam Clovis, radio host
Joni Ernst, State Senator
Mark Jacobs, energy industry executive
Paul Lunde, attorney and nominee for Iowa's 4th congressional district in 1988 and 1992
Scott Schaben, car salesman
Matthew Whitaker, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa and nominee for Treasurer of Iowa in 2002
David Young, former Chief of Staff to Senator Chuck Grassley

Bruce Braley is the lone Democrat running. Just think, cash for clunkers, that's him.
