Michele Bachmann Update: Bachmann is first to sign Family Leader’s pro-marriage pledge

BTW, reason has a blog article titled "Bachmann Pledges to Increase the Size and Scope of Government." It has several points about adult services, no fault divorce, so on, and why it would require an increase in government.

Claiming that marriage needs 'protection" is not only false but a blatantly Big Government view. I have yet to see any mainstream support for the outlaw of marriage or for government getting out of the marriage business. Marriage is not facing extinction. That said, one who who supports legislatively "protecting marriage"-whatever that means- would seem also bound to oppose any SMALL government and/or libertarian solution, such as getting government out of marriage. THAT would be far more threatening to the state sanctioned marriage than the inclusion of gay marriage.

This includes, I am sure, people who marry more than one person or people who marry someone of the same gender, even if it was only through a religious ceremony or in another country.

Her husband is a nut job, and so is she. That is what saddens me so much, that these maggots stole the tea party movement right from under us, when they have no clue the tea party is for freedom and liberty for all !!!! Somehow we must define there is a real tea party resurrected by Ron Paul supporters in 2007, then a fake tea party created by some counterfeit Bachman/Palen supporters. Outcome is one tea party for freedom and liberty for all.. there is another that is freedom and liberty only for those they like.

Then there is the rest, aka the Federal Government, the President, the Congress, and the International rip off artists that control their puppet strings, that wish no freedom or liberty to anyone worth less than 1 billion.

Bachman should be the first we take out. She is a liar and a thief, an opportunist riding the wave of what we created in 2007. She deserves not one moment of our time; and the bigotry of she and her husband should not be tolerated in the name of "tea party".... period !!

she needs to be called out in iowa and everywhere. there needs to be attack ads on this false tea party small gov imposter. We should run ads attacking the fact she isn't tea party and she is bigger government!!

not to mention that she personally never met a government subsidy she didn't like. She lives off of the government's teet.... always has.

And woke up to these two replies and they have a point !!

1) This is the FIRST time I ever heard someone from a tea-party that Bachmann has nothing to do with them. Looks like your party has been hijacked by not-so-mea*ndering loons... It might be a very good idea to denounce these hacks - in unison or get a new banner (more sound)...

Bachmann/P*alin and the likes have pretty much taken over the mantle of the second coming...


2) sounds pretty cool but might i suggest a name change is in order? doesn't matter who had it first, "tea party" is now tainted.

come to think of it, "tea party" has been tainted in my opinion from the time i found out how it originally happened and why.

it wasn't really such a shining moment in american history as it actually parallels the tea party of today where you have a handful of rich corporatio*ns convincing people to rally against their own interests in the name of lower taxes and unknowingl*y pushing a different agenda entirely.
 
A lot of those responses are true.The tea party has been taken over by neocons (Allen West) and religious fanatics (Bachmann). Most of those folks would never consider Ron Paul or know that he is the "intellectual godfather" of the tea party. It is part of any social and political movement, where the poseurs come in and saturate the population with their mutant strain beliefs. While I support their need to be heard I myself distance myself from them.

In my honest opinion, we are going to see some major rifts within the tea party in this upcoming election.
