unrelated but very important: the most important scientific breakhrough in history

Here is the real future of physics, and it doesn't involve banging together particles. Pretty interesting stuff:

E8

In mathematics, E8 is the name given to a family of closely related structures. In particular, it is the name of some exceptional simple Lie algebras as well as that of the associated simple Lie groups. It is also the name given to the corresponding root system, root lattice, and Weyl/Coxeter group, and to some finite simple Chevalley groups. E8 was formulated between the years of 1888 and 1890 by Wilhelm Killing.

The designation E8 comes from Wilhelm Killing and Élie Cartan's classification of the complex simple Lie algebras, which fall into four infinite families labeled An, Bn, Cn, Dn, and five exceptional cases labeled E6, E7, E8, F4, and G2. The E8 algebra is the largest and most complicated of these exceptional cases, and is often the last case of various theorems to be proved.

Surfer dude stuns physicists with theory of everything

By Roger Highfield, Science Editor
Last Updated: 6:01pm GMT 14/11/2007

An impoverished surfer has drawn up a new theory of the universe, seen by some as the Holy Grail of physics, which has received rave reviews from scientists.

Garrett Lisi, 39, has a doctorate but no university affiliation and spends most of the year surfing in Hawaii, where he has also been a hiking guide and bridge builder (when he slept in a jungle yurt).

Is this the fabric of the universe?

Roger Highfield describes a heroic mathematical enterprise that could lay bare the fundamentals of the cosmos

Mathematicians have successfully scaled their equivalent of Mount Everest. Today they unveil the answer to a problem that, if written out in tiny print, would cover an area the size of Manhattan.

At the most basic level, the calculation is an arcane investigation of symmetry – in this case of an object that is 57 dimensional, rather than the usual three dimensional ones that we are familiar with. Although this object was first discovered in the 19th century. there is evidence that it could contain the structure of the cosmos.

Mathematicians are known for their solitary style of working, but the combined assault on what is described as "one of the largest and most complicated structures in mathematics" required the effort of 18 mathematicians from America and Europe for an intensive four-year collaboration.

The feat may baffle most people but could have unforeseen implications in mathematics and physics, which won’t be evident for years to come, said the American Institute of Mathematics.

The best part is that it was put forward by a "surfer dude" with no University Affiliation. He thought string theory was crap and is not part of the "establishment". An outsider, so to speak, supposedly like Ron Paul's supporters :p

Vacuum energy > thermodynamics

Anybody who thinks there is "free energy" didn't pay attention to their physics professor's lecture on thermodynamics.

Maybe they paid attention in astronomy class on the day that dark energy and the false vacuum were discussed.

How far did you guys get into the presentation?

"This fantastic coherence has existed since the beginning of time but has yet to be harnessed by mankind and the potential is truly mind-boggling."
(Russell Blake, senior researcher from Microsoft, author of Optimizing Windows NT)

“The Rodin coil is producing 60% greater output than the present day state of the art coil.”
(Hewlett Packard)

“Quite literally, the Rodin Torus is the first system to model
vortex action with numbers and geometry.”
Professor Scott Nelson (University of Hawaii at Manoa)

please listen to the audio interview with Jeff Rense for a few minutes, it should capture your attention.

Didn't take long to figure out it was all woo. None of what the dude says has scientific standing. He uses the lingo of science in order to sound like he knows wtf he is talking about. It's all a show.

Done by who at HP? I bet HP didn't even state that. How would HP be capable of doing such tests? HP does printers and other PC bullshit.

MalcolmGandi I am a BIG fan of this kind of stuff, Tesla is the REAL Edison of America. Have you ever looked into the Methernita Testatika? Amazing idea, yet only 700 sites about it?
My personal preference is into 11th dimension, and how gravity is cross dimensional.

There are many many wonderful ideas out that only the internet has been able to bring back. I believe it is only a matter of time before these ideas are "re-discovered" through logical conclusion of the pieces.

for the record i didnt even watch the video i just came here to spout out my psuedo science bullshit theorys.

I strongly believe that free energy production methods do exist.

I read some interesting stuff a while back from the Advanced Energy Research Organization.

I watched the whole thing....long, long, long, long,.....long time. I did some research and looked at his website, some of the resources he is using, and the contacts he has made....I am somewhat intrigued.

He does tend to get lost in the "spiritual" aspect more than going after the science, but his motives are not my concern. What interests me is if the whole thing isn't some kind of elaborate fraud or elaborate hoax (which is entirely possible), then he may very well have stumbled on to something pretty revolutionary.

If, by some miracle, what this cat is saying has merit..... it could lead to a new mathematical perspective of music, engineering, energy, biology, etc.

Of course the biggest reason I would want this to be true is, there would be nothing more entertaining to me than to watch the world re-invent itself based on the mathematical genus.... of a guy that wears short shorts, a wife beater, and lives in a tent in Hawaii.

Please pass the Irony.

^Indeed. I just talked to the guy on the phone. He is very genuine. He sent me all kinds of information, along with pictures of test readings. I have worked this system for several hours now, and I honestly believe that this is it. This is the nature of reality, the perfect model. This is how energy works, the reason flower petals form in the way they do, the way tornados form, the way power is amplified with torque. No superior model could ever be created. This changes the whole way I look at the universe. These concepts are literally going to put us past Star Trek in a matter of decades. This is the next Renaissance. Ever heard of Star Wars? Not the movie, the defense program. This guy developed the most sensitive antennaes ever. You can choose not to believe it if you want, but before too long it will be a part of everyday life.
