Universal Health Care

I'm the one watching the Democratic debates, reading Vanity Fair magazine and the New York Times, and watching Sean Penn movies and Michael Moore documentaries. I believe in sleeping with the enemy and knowing them better than they do.

Michael Moore is pro universal health care and in the documentary it details how Hillary's plan got the kabash from health insurers even though she tried to include them in the negotiations.

He made the documentary favoring universal health care in France, England, and Cuba like they were the most utopian. Of course, he did not touch on people talking about giving half their paycheck in order to afford it.

Has anyone watched Sicko? What did you think? Did you watch the special features (especially with Che's daughter). Che was a modern day example of a revolutionary.

I'm posting this in the "Ron Paul International section of the board also.

I don't believe anyone should ever be turned away if in need of healthcare. However, I'm not sold on the idea of a single solution imposed at the federal level. I like the idea of different states (say, Cali and Oregon) trying different solutions out... and if they are successful having other states attempt their own implementations. I don't have faith in corrupt politicians (and both Clinton and Obama are top 10 corrupt according to Judicial Watch) in bed with big pharm doing a good job implementing a system that works.

Thats just straight murdoch shit. Communist Soviet Russia is nothing close to any American value, corrupt politician or not. Those who promote universal healthcare still love our country, they just have a warped thinking about how to deal with our problems. It is ridiculous to compare any possible American policy, ridiculous or not, to communism.

Do you say the same thing about libraries or police or fire or public schools?

I liked Sicko for pointing out the flaws in our healthcare system, but did not like Moore's sales job of universal healthcare.

If people want government healthcare, that can be done at the state or local level. The federal government is the WORST possible entity to manage that, plus it's unconstitutional!

I actually think health care should be a right, but to be done in the US there should be a constitutional amendment and it should specify that the task will be delegated to the states, not to the federal government.

Universal Health Care is ridiculous, it is just allowing the insurance companies to raise prices and take it from the government, who will take it from us through inflation...the democrats will lose the election next fall focusing on health care...

I was married to a guy who was on the General Motors insurance from his father until he was 25 years old. He had MAJOR medical bills due to an illness that would never go away. After he hit 25 years old, I paid a TON of money because he couldn't work and afford medical bills.

Suffice to say, I divorced because I could not deal with that expense. He was a very decent, righteous man, but I had to do what I had to do. I believe in self-preservation. He took the divorce settlement and moved to Hawaii. And no I'm not pissed about that. Time to move on.
