NC-4: Could B.J. Lawson defeat Rep. David Price?

Last week, I remarked that after looking at the latest generic ballot numbers from Gallup, which showed the GOP with a 10 point advantage, that candidates like a B.J. Lawson, who we chatted with back in March, could be competitive in what has been considered a “safe Democratic” seat.

As I noted earlier this morning, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is cutting loose some vulnerable members without a shot to win. If they are going to be forced to defend seats like NC-4, you have to wonder where the bottom is to this GOP wave.

A Lawson win would huge because unlike other candidates, he knows what he stands for, doesn't hem and haw about it, and he shows Republicans how to win in Democrat districts with the right kind of message. That's more of a threat to the Dems than winning some district McCain won overwhelmingly in.

Too bad Senator Burr isn't too popular - he'll probably win re-election, but not by too much.

He won't give Lawson much "coattails".

Edit: This is great news, and I hope this poll was done without bias, being it's an internal poll. Either way it's going to be an uphill battle to win this but who knows this election.
