UK police preparing to storm Ecuadorian embassy to arrest Julian Assange

I dont believe that any UK personnel (police, army, street sweepers, postmen etc,) will storm embassy. It is standard operating procedure to place police there when there is situation like this. Dont panick ;)

won't happen

during the cold war a Hungarian cardinal stayed in the US embassy for years.

the British govt might want to , but they won't

All young guys in England need need to get together and do a "look like Julian Assange day" and hang out near the Equator embassy.

How about: Thousands of people put on V masks and surround the embassy, and Julian wears one too, and slips out into the crowd. I could see that being good cover.

you're late on the news that was hours ago already - apparently two unarmed cops were let in to talk, but they haven't started to storm the embassy

There just emerged a threat to storm the UK embassy in Tunisia if the Brits go through with their threat. These motherfuckers are about to set off World War III.

All over freaking Julian Assange. He must be so proud.

No it is all over the fact that the Swedish are idiots and made something out of nothing. They asked for extradition over a "questioning" and their intent is to then extradite him to the US as soon he is in Sweden.

And Australia are pussies enough to let one of their citizens be abused over nothing.

just an FYI... Julian Assange has never been charged with any crime in the UK or Sweden.

US/UK are worse than the Mafia... there's no rule of law for the tyrants running the empires.

Don't you know? There's no worldwide conspiracy. It's all in your head. It's just a coincidence that a sexually liberal country like Sweden is charging Assange for having consensual sex. It's just a coincidence that the U.K. is willing to break all diplomatic protocol just to go after one man what over consensual sex with two adult women. It's just a coincidence that this man happens to be hated by both political parties in the U.S. for doing what is actually protected under U.S. law, that is republishing information that has been leaked to him. Really, if publishing classified information is a crime, then every major news outlet in the nation is guilty. The Watergate investigation never would have happened without publishing of classified leaks. But hey, we've got to stop another Watergate no matter what right? The problem isn't the corruption. Nooooo...the problem is the leaks.

My two cents: The Occupy People and everybody else who wants to show support for Assange should be converging on UK embassies all over the world right about now.

I do like the "look like Julian Assange!" plan. Then roll up about 100 trucks, let chaos ensue, with a few more Assange look-alikes coming out from the Embassy. The soldiers and police emerge for the raid, round up everybody until they can sort it all out, then ...

Helicopter to the roof?

What is Ecuador going to do really.......poor saps.
Apologies Of An Economic Hitman Ecuador hasn't forgotten how the CIA/US fucked their country up. Assange has support of like 95 % of the citizenry... Assange would be a welcomed hero for exposing the criminals actions of the UK/US governments in their country. Assange was very smart in selecting Ecuador...

Britain's Foreign Office issued a statement citing a 1987 British law it says permits the revocation of diplomatic status of a building if the foreign power occupying it "ceases to use land for the purposes of its mission or exclusively for the purposes of a consular post." Under international law, diplomatic posts are considered the territory of the foreign nation.
Asked by The Associated Press about Patino's characterization of Britain's warning, a Foreign Office official said via email that the letter "was not a threat" and was intended to clarify "all aspects of British law that Ecuador should be aware of." The official would not be identified by name, citing policy.
Patino said the missive including the veiled threat was delivered to his country's Foreign Ministry in writing and verbally to its ambassador in London on Wednesday. The law cited was Britain's 1987 Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act.
Patino said Ecuador "rejects in the most energetic terms the explicit threat of the official British communication."

I know that embassys do not have full extraterritorial status... BUT "Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations" article 22. (or 23?? 90% sure it is 22.) states that embassies (among others) are not to be violated and must not be entered by the host country unless Ambassador ("head") gives them permission. UK is acting under "Vienna Convention" (signed it).... and yes I know laws are to be quoted exactly or not at all but I am lazy/busy at the moment to find it....

All this talk is to put pressure and make drama so it doesnt look like politicians are weak and dont know what they are doing....

99,999% sure no one will storm that building.
