UFC 104: Machida/Shogun

^ I watched it with sound off too and Shogun still won it. He won more of the exchanges, he dictated the pace of the fight, he landed the more meaningful strikes, and did more damage overall. Shogun was robbed.

Dana White has already announced an immediate rematch so we can watch shogun beat Machida 2x.

Yeah, Dana went immediately to the man with a look of apology.
It wasn't a fixed fight as far as the UFC goes but who knows what the judges were drinking or smoking during the prelims.
I'm a Machida fan...
Shogun earned that win IMHO.

I'm one who believes that you really have to beat the champ in order to be the champ. I would scored the fight a draw just because all of those leg kicks don't mean a whole lot. Remember that Royce Gracie won his fight in UFC 3 even with a torn up knee. I want an immediate rematch though cause shogun was winning.

If you haven't watched yet don't unless you want to be bored for 25 minutes. The whole card sucked besides the second to last match where the white guy took a beating for two rounds and kept getting up.

I don't know. I just watched it with the volume off (no commentator influence). I didn't look like a win to me. I would have scored it a draw. Machida got in plenty of great shots (so did shogun); but Shogun never had him even close to beat.

and what is with Shogun throwing his arms wide, spread-eagle so much? I suppose it was to maintain his balance but I can't help but think that in a rematch Machida will have trained for that and look at it as an opening....

You're right. I also noticed Rogans bias and went back and rewatched the fight with no volume and and now i agree with 2 of the 3 judges. Although rounds 1 and 2 were close, I can see why they gave them both to Machida.

Machida definitely won round 3. Hands down.

Can't wait for the rematch!

Hey everybody! This guy has no idea what he is talking about and his words in regards to anything about the sport of MMA should be taken with the same kind of credibility as when Obama speaks!

You don't even know who that "white guy" was! The whole card sucked?! The Main Event was boring?!

Go back to watching WWF! .

Glad I'm not the only one.

What did you think of the shogun "throwing his arms wide/spread eagle"?
After the 3rd time, I was waiting for Machida to leap in and delivery a knock blow. No doubt he is studying the game tapes and look for some "tell" to let him know when exactly Shogun does that. Seems like a helluvan oppurtunity; but I'd have to review the match again to see.

Ditto! and me too.

Wow, I guess since I'm not a UFC superfan I can't have an opinion on it. Yes, the card sucked. I've watched most of the Pay per views in the last year and this was easily the worst.

Yes, the main event was rather boring. Neither fighter ever seemed to be in real danger. It seemed like each fighter was trying to grind towards a victory. It was boring.

I don't really know about the spread eagle shogun arms. It sorta seemed like a taunt at the time. But come to think about it, shogun is a Muay Thai fighter first and foremost, and that's how how a Muay Thai boxer typically stands, although not that spread out.

LOL! Yes. It was extremely boring. But this is what I expected from Machida after he grabbed the belt. It is the reason I didn't want him to become champion in the first place. At least Rashad Evans would always offer entertainment. Machida has been playing this game for years. He just recently threw it out the window with some big knockouts, but he is still THAT Machida obviously. So sick of these guys who become champion and then prance around like sissies once they have a belt as if we don't see it will destroy them to lose it.

Machida will most definitely be another Tim Sylvia. A guy who has all the tools for success (especially Machida) who refuses to really fight.

Just got a text from m friend that he purchased this and is having people over. I'm a big fan of MMA but I don't really know many of the UFC fighters. Think I'm still gonna go watch it anyway
UFC events are huge social events now.

Much better result this time. And even though it was only 3 and half minutes, it had much more action than the last fight which went the distance.
